Flawless performance and great build quality
Just did my first smoke. This smoker is a pleasure to use! Assembly took a bit of time (2 hours) but it was obvious that everything about this smoker is solid, sturdy quality. We don't like a lot of smoke in our meats so we decided on a pellet grill. This unit makes us glad we did! The first cook, a pork shoulder, went flawlessly. The PID 3.0 controller is the highlight of this unit. Magically maintains a consistent temperature in the pit with NO dirty smoke. Just a beautifully designed smoker that delivers what it promises. Highly recommended. UPDATE after 25 smokes: I am even happier with this grill. The PID 3.0 is marvelous and has been flawless. This morning I smoked 3 racks of ribs, using Costco's pellet blend. Can't imagine this going any easier or better. Not sure what some have found about fit and finish. This grill is well designed, solid, and went together effortlessly. The real game changer is the PID 3.0. Having used it over 25 times now, I sometimes wish I had gotten the newer model with the bottom ash gate. But really, removing the drip pan and steel burner cover to vacuum out the ash is not difficult. I have been surprised at the great smoke rings on my briskets. Didn't expect that with a pellet grill.

Great Little Tabletop Pellet Grill – Perfect for Smoking & Everyday Cooking
This Z Grills tabletop pellet grill/smoker works fantastic! I’ve smoked ribs and chicken wings, plus made burgers – everything turned out absolutely delicious. It holds temperature really well and is super easy to use. My only note is that it doesn’t get hot enough for a proper sear on steaks, but for everything else it’s been excellent. Great value and highly recommend for camping, tailgating, or small spaces!

Great pellet grill becomes great smoker with one additional accessory
I’ve been using the 200A for a little over a month and found it perfect for barbecuing for me and my wife. Its size would also easily suit a family of four or five as long as you don’t expect to be able to cook a turkey or something similarly sized. I’ve cooked the usual burgers/chops/steak/chicken as well as smoking salmon and pork butt. This has done a great job with it all. The temperature control is at least as accurate as a home oven which makes smoking meats for hours easy. If you’ve ever smoked using a manually operated grill/smoker then you know the dance involved. The 200A is a true set the temperature and walk away experience. As mentioned in the title you do need one accessory to impart smoke flavor when using the 200A as a smoker. You’ll want to buy a smoke tube for a few bucks. The grill alone doesn’t cut it for smoking. I wish this was available about 40 years ago. I would rather to have owned this over all of the other grills I’ve had. Seriously it’s that good.

First Impression is Very Good -- UPDATED
Dec 28, 2024: I am smoking three racks of St Louis ribs today and I'm still very happy with this smoker. I keep it in the garage, so it still looks almost brand new. Everything works perfectly. On some smokes, I've also started using a smoker tube inside with pecan pellets. I am still an occasional smoker, but I would still buy this model if I were searching for one today. This is my third smoker. The first two were vertical electric smokers. Personally, I liked them and they had small footprints on my deck but ultimately, they failed. I've always been intrigued by pellet smokers after examining one that was being raffled by local BBQ joint. After a lot of videos and reading I went with the Z. Mainly because I'm not an avid smoker who smokes food every week. I also have a ceramic Kamado grill for high temp grilling and I'd never even consider using this as a replacement for that. First things first: Before even using the Z Grills 7002, I'm very impressed with it's build quality and overall weight. But, the delivery experience is a different matter. Nothing major but it is something that annoys me. First, they ship directly using FedEx and the last couple of years, that company has underperformed (putting it mildly). I received a text with my tracking info and a delivery date of Saturday. Based on recent experience with FedEx, I knew it probably would not arrive on time. However, I received a text at 9:11pm announcing that the Z had been delivered to my front door at 9:05pm. I looked out the front door and there was nothing. I went to the back door and garage...nothing. I got into the car and drove around to inspect neighbor's doors...nothing. I contacted FedEx and Z. I got the typical response that maybe I just wasn't looking in the right places for a large heavy box another annoyance. I also got an automated response telling me that the seller would be in touch by Monday evening. The next day, around 3pm, I heard noise outside the front door. I spot the large box and a man walking away to get into a white unmarked van. he drives away and that was that. So Monday rolls around and I get follow-up from both FedEx and Z which was nice. Both indicated that they see my grill was delivered on time and signed for by ME. This is untrue and this is what annoys me most. First, FedEx did not deliver this grill. It was delivered the next day by a man in an unmarked van. He did not ring the doorbell and I was not asked to sign anything. Now the records show this and it makes it appear that the delivery was perfect. I'm setting that record straight here where it counts. This box is heavy. I was sure something would be damaged. But everything was in good condition. I assembled it on Monday afternoon and it was pretty easy. There is a quick assembly sheet which you should just ignore. Locate the hardware blister pack and the manual. That's where the real instructions are found. I've assembled lots of stuff and I'm pretty good at it. This is pretty easy but some parts are awkward. I did it all by myself but if you have someone who can hold parts it can't hurt. Sometimes I ask my wife to help but even after a lot of years of marriage, she still reminds me that she can't read my mind. So I just proceed by myself. I do have a couple of suggestions to make assembly easier: First, when assembling the leg side braces, I recommend laying the assembly on it's side and not upside down as in the drawing. These legs are saw horse style legs that are angled outward for stability. The side braces can easily be screwed in the wrong direction. If you start by laying the leg assembly on its side, you'll avoid that mistake!. Second, the instructions didn't mention installing the casters but they're a simple thing and just screw in. Third, the digital controller is located inside the hopper. The instruction say to screw it to the hopper assembly with self tapping screws. However, it fails to mention that you need to place the control panel on the outside of the hopper. Turned the right way, it will slide through the slot and you can then attach it. It is made of a clear plastic-like material so don't overtighten the screws or you could crack it. It has a heat gasket on the backside so it is easy to figure out how it should be oriented. Fourth, this is a big one for your sanity! tape a piece of cardboard over the bottom opening in the hopper just above the auger. I guarantee that you'll drop a screw in the auger assembly if you don't. I did it twice! You'll have to carefully roll the hopper assembly over and hope the screw falls out. Fifth, when installing the hopper assembly, you'll need to locate the temperature probe wires from the smoker and the control panel. You need to attach them before you screw in the hopper to the smoker body. I had to do that part over. Sixth, the heat baffle, it's a nice well-made piece with cross bracing so it won't warp when heated. Apparently that is a problem with other brands. It's easy to install and so well made that I just had to mention it. Seventh, the grease drain pan is covered in machine oil. Go ahead and wipe it with a paper towel. If you have stainless steel cleaner for kitchen appliances, give it a final cleaning with that stuff. The grill seasoning/burn-off phase take care of the rest. I plan to use this later this week and I'll add my impressions. As long as everything heats up and maintains temp, I think I'll be happy. December 10, 2022 Edit: I got a chance to smoke a rack of St Louis ribs. First, the smoker did great and it is so nice to not have to constantly babysit the cook. The temperature held within 5f which I confirmed with a separate thermoprobe. When you raise temperature, it will spike above the set temperature. But the PID will get it under control and you'll hear the blower fan start to change speed. Before I started, I wrapped the drip pan in foil so it is not so difficult to clean. For the cook I did a modified of 3-2-1 method. I added my rub and smoked the ribs on the smoke setting for about 45 minutes. Next, I raised the temp to 180 for the remainder of the first 3 hours. Then the ribs were removed and the temp was set to 225. I wrapped the ribs in foil Johnny Trigg style and smoked them another 2hrs at 225. The foil was removed and a generous amount of sauce was brushed on. After about 45 min, I removed the ribs and have attached a photo of them. They came out very nice. I used Ttraeger pellets which are not the best and I won't buy those again. I have since ordered a bag of Camp Chef Competition Blend and Z Grills Cherry wood pellets. I chose these because they are 100% hardwood pellets. The Traeger pellets have lots of binders added. OK, one more update. I have now smoked three turkey breasts, two racks of St Louis ribs and a 7lb prime rib (see pics). Super simple and reliable. It is sturdy and the bigger wheels make it so easy to move around. The round steel legs provide lots of strength and I see some more expensive brands with angled steel legs that if braced properly would also be very strong. But I think the round tubular steel legs just look really nice. I've built up a nice smoke coating inside and I see very little smoke exiting from the lid. I bought a gasket but have not used it. ANOTHER UPDATE: I decided to see if I could exceed 400f and it actually exceeded 450f. But this is still indirect heat so you can’t sear.

Fantastic smoker at a great price
This little smoker is perfect for camping. It's small and lighweight and works just as well as any of my other full size smokers. With the exception of size. You can still do a rack of ribs on it, but don't expect a full brisket or turkey!!

Beware of Z Grills Non-Existent Customer Service!
I purchased my Z Grill nine months ago. After a very involved assembly, when I went to break in my grill I could not get it to turn on. I called customer service and they told me that "often you have to press the power button several times in different locations to get it to turn on, as the actual internal switch doesn't always line up with that button". I should have asked them right then to replace that part of the assembly (which would have involved replacing the entire hopper assembly) but it was such a pain to install the first time that I really didn't want to go through that again - And that's on me. So every time I use it I have to play around with it 2-3 minutes before it will power up. Now, only nine months later, as you can see in the photo, the cover that came with the grill is basically rotten: I went to move it using the handle on the front, and my hand literally went right through the cover. When I called Z Grills I was told by their "customer service" (through what seemed to be AI-produced responses to my emails) that "since the grill cover is not covered by warranty you'll just have to order another one from them" - for $80! I asked the AI why would I pay $80 for a cover that didn't even last one year, when I can buy a much better quality cover from Amazon for less than half that! The cover for my gas grill, which gets the exact same exposoure to the elements as the smoker, has lasted about three years now and it still looks new - and it was only about $20. It's a shame that this company feels the need to rip off its customers with poor quality, insanely over priced accessories and terrible customer service. I will not be buying another Z Grill anything!

Works just as good as any other name brand pellet smoker
Outstanding heavy duty pellet grill! This is my second pellet grill/smoker replacing a name brand that still works but I needed something with a little more cooking space. Temps run within 10-15* of actual temp but that varies throughout the grilling process and it’s comparable to other pellet grills. Heat up time is pretty fast and I LOVE the “shut down” mode (off) that stops the auger and burns any remaining pellets in the furnace cup while running the fan to cool the grill down faster allowing you to know when you can put the cover back on. Assembly instructions are great but it took a couple hours by myself. It comes with a grill cover, $45 value, and two temperature probes that are close to +/-10 degrees temperature accurate and very helpful! This grill does not have an app or Bluetooth to monitor cook temps which was not big deal to me for the price. Overall I’d have to say this Z Grill pellet smoker is everything it says it is and every bit as good as the other big name brand pellet grills. I use mine 3-4 times a week year round. I would suggest covering the drip pan with aluminum foil to ease cleaning once a month or two if you use it often. An inexpensive welding blanket to cover the grill while cooking also helps keep the heat in and use fewer pellets. You can use other name brand pellets in the ZGrill as well. Update… I use this grill a lot! Very pleased with it except for the cover that comes with it. Not water proof or barely even water repellent. Unless you store it inside, purchase a different grill cover. Otherwise you’ll risk the pellets in the hopper getting wet and turning into a nightmare getting it out.

Results are great -- easy to use.
Smoked some chicken breasts tasted great! Just tried for first time on the ZGrill model ZPG-600D+ -- everything worked per the instructions -- really easy to use. It assembles very nicely. There was a damaged part so I contacted customer service and received a replacement part within two days! Very impressed. I was surprised the part was damaged as the packaging is excellent. I recommend this grill.
