Hi - Does Ion semi-permanent color give good gray coverage, even though it's peroxide-free? Thank you!

Professional stylists of 40 yrs. Semi permanent only stains your hair. It's a very low peroxide alternative to permanent color. If you like to change your shades often or giving your hair a break it's very good. Less maintenance non damaging..

If this is clear does it deposit any color?

Clear is only for shine and gloss. No color deposits.. also semi permanent colors can only deposit not lighten

Can this be used alone for shine?

Yes! I used it simply to enhance my highlights. I have naturally red hair. I used it a couple of weeks before my wedding and then just before. Worked for exactly what I wanted, shine and highlight.

what is the clear one for? like what do you use it for? does it impart shine or something?

Yes, it adds a multi-faceted shine like their pigmented dyes. It can also be used to dilute other colors that are darker than desired by mixing them prior to application.

This is a great semipermanent color that colors evenly and lasts great on my darker hair, but does fade a little faster from the grey areas (but still much better than others I have tried).

when i use box dye black it fades after 1-2 washes, this lasted me all of october and is still a brownish black, plus it's decent to bleach out !

Its the perfect shade of black that makes it look natural. Super easy to use, and lasts as long as the box says it will. Haven't noticed it staining my pillows or anything like other semi perm dyes.
