Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Year One: Deluxe: Volume 1 : Higgins, Kyle, Prasetya, Hendry: desertcart.in: Books Review: Damaged book. I want a compensation. Review: After a couple of years, I finally managed to get a hold of Power Rangers: Year One. While it has essentially gone out of print since it’s first run, the book is soon to be reprinted this month for Local Comic Book Store Day, so I figure a review would still be relevant. Presentation This edition contains the first issues 0-12 of Boom Studios’ main Power Rangers series, as well as all the associated backup comics and one short story exclusive to this book, in a hefty hardcover edition. The book is printed on high quality paper stock, and the colors are incredibly vivid and eye-catching. My copy did feature a couple of minor defects during the printing process but considering how small they were and how common the problem is among graphic novels, it is barely worth mentioning. Story This series was touted as a modern retelling of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, and it very much succeeds in that regard. While the original show is campy 90s fun with a fair bit of excellent story-telling here and there, this new story brings a new depth to the original Ranger lineup and expands the world of the Rangers in a big way. Without spoiling much, this series quickly diverges from the original series in an intriguing way, and sets the foundation for some fascinating storytelling in the future. My only gripe with this book is that it does not include the companion Go Go Power Rangers series, which explores the Rangers before Tommy shows up, though I can understand how it would confuse the otherwise linear storytelling of MMPR. Overall, this is an excellent first outing for the series, and a fantastic presentation of what is sure to be a beloved interpretation of our favorite spandex superhero kid’s show.

the comic itself is fantastic, one of the most enjoyable comics i have read in a while, the only problem was the physical condition it arrived in. one of the corners was a little damaged, almost as if it was dropped on that corner, and the pages were warped around the edges as if they suffered a little moisture damage. these aren't dealbreakers because the damaged corner is not significantly misshapen and the warped pages don't compromise the quality of the panels as the damage was only visible when the book was closed and the wavy shapes of the pages were visible. the warped pages problem was also easily fixed by placing the book under something heavy and just leaving it like that for a few days to flatten out the wavy shape. Overall, its a great book, just don't expect it to be in perfect condition as i doubt the less than stellar handling of my copy would be unique to me.

Absolutely adore this series. Best thing I have read since My life as a weapon by May Friction. Can't wait to move into the next one
