Digital Alarm Clock with Keyboard Style Controls, Battery Back-up, Easy to Use with Simple Operation, Black Case with Red LED Display

I was looking for a simple, reliable, small alarm clock and this clock from Sharp fits the bill perfectly! Can’t half see well in the morning and the red digital readout is very bright. Works like a charm. Definitely well worth the money.

Clock is fairly small & I bought a different 1 previously. Lighted numbers were so bright that across a room at night the numbers were just a red glare. This 1 has 3 brightness settings, lowest is plenty bright enough, easily readable w/no glare. Buttons on front make it very easy to set. Back up battery that saves the time when power goes out.

After putting the batteries in the clock, it took about 5 minutes to have it set. The clock plugs in to 110V power, but the batteries retain clock settings if you unplug it to move it. Setting it is very simple and straightforward, including the alarm. The LED display has 3 brightness levels, so you can have it bright enough to see in full daylight and dim enough to let you sleep in a dark room. The alarm is a buzzer and is pretty loud. The clock does not keep track of days, so you can set the alarm a maximum of 24 hours in advance. The clock is a simple, functional product at a very low price.

It works great, it is a quality clock. It functions as a regular alarm clock. Quite bright, I do turn it away from my face when I sleep. Easy setup. My annoyance is that it generates quite of bit of heat, where I place it is quite warm to the touch, which is weird in my opinion, knocked off 1 star for that... but it's a great clock. Takes me back to my youth, which is why I got it <3

It’s cheap and works well. It has a dimmer for the light with is cool. Just a normal alarm clock. Alarms not too loud which is great. I’m going to say it’s pretty durable because sometimes it makes this strange humming noise, so I slap it until it stops. Stability good.

great small clock-takes up less space on my nigt stand-easy to set-I can see it from across the room. Definitely recommend!

I was looking for a simple desk clock that runs of AC and uses the 60 Hz mains frequency as a time base. The reason for the latter is because the electricity company keeps this really accurate, you will never have to correct the clock (as is often the case with clocks having an internal quartz reference). Quartz based clocks always drifts over time, not so for this clock. Also, those atomic clocks (as an alternative) were not an option for me, as the NIST radio signal for that (from Ft Collins, CO) is too weak where I live. Apart from the fact that those clocks cost at least twice as much. There is a battery backup in this clock that keeps an internal oscillator running when there is a power outage, two AAA batteries can be placed in the clock for that. Contrary what some reviewers have reported as a "defect", these batteries are only there to keep the internal oscillator running during an outage so you won't have to re-adjust the clock after a power outage. These batteries will NOT keep the display illuminated. That is not why these batteries are there, even the video reviewer had not grasped that fact I noticed. I recommend to use old-fashioned carbon-zinc batteries for this backup function, as alkaline-based batteries always start to leak corrosive electrolyte after a while. This will destroy your radio in the process. This leakage happens even when alkaline batteries are hardly used I have noticed, they are terrible in that aspect. Use carbon-zinc instead (often called "heavy duty" batteries) This is in fact my only gripe about this radio, it should have been designed for a lithium coin cell battery instead of the two AAA batteries. Lithium batteries never leak an have an extremely low self discharge. Another nice-to-have would have been a daylight- saving time switch, but not a big deal. Adding it all up, this is a buy I can recommend. The clock is built well and has good brightness (settable by the user)

The smaller size is nice because it doesn't take up a lot of space on my nightstand, and the digital face that shows the numbers is big enough. The steps for setting the time and alarm and shutting it off are simple and easy. The alarm is very loud, which I like. However, the reason I am giving this 3 stars is because the buttons for setting the time/alarm (minutes especially) are very sensitive and it is hard to get it to stop on the exact minute I need. It will oftentimes (not always) go past that time by several minutes. This happens when I am manually tapping the button for each and every minute and also if I am holding the button down for an extended period of time so that the minutes go up automatically until I let go. Another frustrating aspect, although not as frustrating as the minutes not stopping when I need them to, is that when you hold the button down for an extended period of time to move minutes without tapping the button, the minutes don't move up as fast as some other alarm clocks I have had move. So, if you are on 12:01, for example, but want 12:45 it will take a longer time to get to 12:45 when compared to some other alarm clocks. Also, one last thing to note is that I bought this alarm clock about 7 months ago. The sensitive buttons issue with the minutes not stopping when I want them to did not start happening until about 5 months in, and seems to be getting worse (happening more often and going further past the minute I want. If you don't have the change your alarm on a regular basis, this may not be an issue for because the alarm time won't change if you don't change. It stores that time and you just switch it to on/off.

I bought this thinking it would work because why wouldn’t a simple alarm clock work in 110v-220v areas? Well it doesn’t. Only works in 110v. I tried batteries only. Nope. Be warned!

I wanted an electric alarm clock, just that, an electric alarm clock. I didn't want all the added stuff. Finally found this one and really like it. I've had it for 2 months and have had no problems with it. The alarm is loud enough, the numbers have 3 levels of brightness, it is easy to set. Just a simple, electric alarm clock which is difficult to find these days.
