do the chess pieces move themselves?

No. If you are playing against the computer, you get directions on the screen as to which piece the computer wants to move. If you move the wrong piece, it sounds a buzzer.

Does this product have a "save" feature or do the games need to be played in one sitting?

The game is saved when you turn the board off. It has, or at least mine has, a funny way of reloading where it seems to be going crazy for a while flashing symbols over and over, but it settles down and resets the game right where you left it. It is good, if possible, to leave the pieces on the board as the screen is hard to read.

Pathetic.

This is probably an old model and half the functions don't work. The visual board is tiny & unreadable. The tutor function doesn't work. It would have been a great Chess to learn if it did all it claimed. Sadly it barely works. Pathetic experience after spending a fortune on this.

Good Beginners Kit

It works but is a bit jerky at times, the human vs computer feature and advice works well. Good for kids above 6 to train them initially.
