A fantastic choice all around
I haven't actually worn a wristwatch in over twenty something years, using my pager, cell phone, and other clocks to mark time. Recently a good friend of mine purchased a Rolex. The expense of the watch is obviously meant to impress and it was one of his life goals to own one. I realized that it does irritate me to have to pull out the cell phone or pager to check the time and at this stage of life, I deserved a very nice watch worthy of the success I have achieved. I looked at Rolex, Omega, and others before considering Seiko, the brand of watch my father still wears after 40 plus years. After scrolling through ALL available Seiko choices THIS watch was the only one that had the features I would not compromise on (self powered kenetic, date display, waterproof to 300 feet, and striking masculine appearance). NONE of the Rolex, Omega, etc. had the kenetic powering of this Seiko watch (they were all battery powered) which is stunning given the price of these expensive watches. I read over 200 reviews on this watch and found very few negative ones. Is this watch big? No. I bought it because it appears to be the smallest of this style that has kenetic powering. It fits my wrist perfectly and is as comfortable as any metal band can be. This watch is sexy- when I showed a girlfriend (who is very picky) the watch I was planning on buying she remarked how manly looking it was and that the band was very attractive. All that combined and over a week of research, I made the purchase through Amazon and it arrived exactly when it was supposed to. The watch appears flawlessly finished and is not huge at all when you consider all the watches that are over 38mm in size. When I took the watch in to have the band sized, the jeweler commented on its appearance and asked me where I got it. He was surprised at the low price I had paid. The only feature this watch is missing is a day of the week indicator and if they made one that looked like this one I would buy it. So far, I love this watch, and this from someone who hasn't worn one for decades. If I have any issues I will post further. P.S. I also could not ignore the fact that this watch is numbered "007" which did catch my eye but is NOT the reason I ordered it. If Bond wore a Seiko, it's a safe bet it would be this one. UPDATE 11-10-09: Recently noticed a very very small speck that appeared to be on the crystal next to the date. Wiping did not remove it and with the help of a magnifying glass I was able to determine it was actually a piece of white dust or lint actually stuck to the inside surface of the crystal. Checking further, I spotted two more (even smaller pieces) in the left lower area, also stuck to the inside surface of the crystal. The first speck is almost impossible to see with the naked eye (I have 20/15 vision) and does not distract from the beauty of this watch. The other two specks are essentially invisible. Still a strong recommend.

Awesome timepiece (10 year update)
I purchased this watch a couple of months back. This i would say is one of the best purchases i've ever made. This picture in the website doesn't do any justice to the actual look of the Watch. It looks wonderful when u see it in real time. And the accuracy of the time is also excellent. i got 2 chances to let this watch go on sleep mode and when i started it back up, just by a small shake, the arms started to rotate beautifully and then came to the EXACT current time after 2 days of sleep. This is a great value addition for this watch. The only discomfort that i felt for the first few days was the weight of the watch pressing on my wrist with the kinda Sharp cap that it has..but i got used to it as days passed by..now i just Luv the watch and am very proud when ever i wear it...as a whole this is a good investment to make!!!! ***UPDATE 2**** The year is 2017!! Ten years have gone by and this watch has become a part of me now! I have 4 other watches but this is my favorite and still caught peoples' eyes on several occasions. Extremely pleased with this time piece! Hopefully there will be another update 5 years down the line! ***UPDATE 1**** Cant believe it has been 5 years since i bought this watch....just wanted to re-emphasize what an awesome watch this is!!! still receiving compliments from my new colleagues...and the watch looks as good as new...ofcourse the bracelet has some scratches..but I cant think of another watch for the next few years!!!!

Nice watch, no Documentation, broken box, and looks used - Imperial Watches should be Ashamed
Just received my "New" Seiko Kinetic watch - it is / was to be a birthday present. The Seiko box is broken. No documentation of any kind. The watch looks used. Very poorly done. Cannot comment on the watch at this point, but the vendor, Imperial Watches should be ashamed of themselves. Very, very unprofessional. Looks like it came from a flea market. Would like an apology and restitution.

Great watch to buy and own
I bought this watch in early 2009. And since then I have been wearing it almost every single day. To date, this watch has not had a single problem. I love several facts about this watch: 1) The time is always accurate with its quarts movement 2) Even though it's a quartz movement, you don't need to replace battery every year or two like other watches. 3) Sapphire crystal dial window maintains the watch in its pristine shape 4) You never need to adjust date, and on top of that, when you use it after not wearing it for a long time, the time will automatically rewind itself to its current time. 5) It's a well designed modern looking watch. 6) Built quality is great. 7) Price is great for 300 dollar plus. So overall this watch is not only very functional as it shows time and date, but also it's attractive and beautiful in its own way as men's jewel. If some of the qualities above is what you're looking for a watch, then it will please you very likely.

It is an awesome watch
For the technical people: This caliber is a triumph of classical watch-making and modern microelectronics. With 232 parts, which is almost the same number as other high-class mechanical chronograph watches, and the world's smallest ultra-sonic motor, just 0.4 mm thick, the Kinetic Perpetual caliber sets a new standard in Perpetual Calendar watches. This 0.4 mm thick ultra-sonic motor is the only motive energy for the 101 parts in the mechanical gear trains of the Perpetual Calendar which correctly displays not only date and day, but also months, including February of leap years. This remarkable calendar is also governed by a photo sensor, which recognizes a certain mark on each gear and judges, and corrects the date, day, month and year, including February of leap years. The frequency is at 32,768 Hz which I only knew after I went through the manual. Going through the manual, it was stated that to set the time accurately, one should advance the minute hand 4 to 5 minutes ahead of the correct time and then turn it back to the exact time. Not sure if this was the source of inaccuracy for some of the owners of this watch. For those who are more interested in the general feel of the watch: This model is definitely more "friendly" than the gold or black version. Reason being it can go with jeans or working attire. The weight is not overwhelming and feels comfortable on the wrist. The best part is the sapphire crystal face which should help to keep it free from scratches for a long period of time. At the price of $260, it is really a steal!! Get it!! I have another automatic watch but it is not perpetual calender and the date function is quite useless once you leave it on the table for a few days. With this Seiko watch, I would be assured that it will be accurate till 2100. The only reason why I have not rated it 5 stars is due to the warranty card which is not stamped. 18th March, 2014 After more than 1 year in use, the watch still looks great as from Day 1. No scratch on the sapphire crystal face even though I have accidently hit the surface a few times. Love this watch!!! 7th June, 2017 After owing it for 4 years now, I am still getting compliments on what a great looker this watch is. The uniqueness of the date display sets this watch apart from other watches.

Disappointing aesthetics compared to the Arctura #SNP009
I own an Arctura SNP# 009 and have worn it everyday (jogging, work, outings) for over a year; the piece still works perfectly confirming the technology and quality. I enjoy that model so much that recently I decided to buy a similar model in the series- hence the Coutura SNP #007. I received it today and all I can say is, shame on me for not conducting due diligence. Just a cursory look at the web pictures, the piece looked very attractive. However, out of box, the overall visual impact was disappointing. I assumed both watches will look identical except for the dark inset in the SNP007- far from it. If the concept of classic, "understated elegance" appeals to you, the benchmark, nolo contendere, is the SNP #009. I only wish the SNP#009 goes on sale again at Amazon for 399$. As for the SNP#007, as much as I hate dislike the practice, I will be "returning" it.

I don't expect the crystal to fall off....
Not by a long shot. The big date is nice by doesn't really belong on this watch. I had a real expensive A. Lange (Datograph in platinum) which worked with the big date but this does not look right. A nice watch for the money but it doesn't look good enough on the wrist. Great value but the SNAE67 (on a gorgeous strap) or SNAE 69 (nice bracelet) look better and are definitely more striking. And changing the battery is cheaper than changing this battery or capacitor when the time is up. I do appreciate the large date but the watch hands are not prominent enough (I looked at almost every Sekio and Citizen). The Seiko SNAE67 or SNAE69 (bracelet) are cheaper and better looking. Replacing the battery is cheap. Citizen also has better looking watches --- the limited edition Eli Manning (1,000 pieces --- not so limited or it's just a cheaper AT perpetual chronograph( I got this for $100 less than the Manning.) Take a look at both on your wrist. Moreover, the capacitor/battery does wear out and costs much more than a battery. $1-$2 per battery is good. Probably at least $1000 if Swiss made. Two nice watches but the SNAE 67 or 69 is cheaper, simpler (and more reliable) and better looking. The Snea 67 looks even better but lacks a bracelet (it has arabic numbers which look really. Like a $1,000+ watch. It also has less to break and is wonderfully priced, I don't know why so many of these have sold but so few SNAE's (except because the SNAE's are newer) and have fewer high-tech capabilities (capabilities which are not that important, expensive to repair --- the SNAE battery is $1 while kinetic capacitor replacement is probably $100, and so on). You, your frends, and women will be impressed by the SNAE 67 or 69 looks, not this. And Amazon sells them, too. (For less.) Good luck.

I really like this watch a lot
I've got a few watches - all of them more expensive than this one and from well-respected watch makers. But this watch is my favorite. It looks good. It's accurate. The power save feature is really cool (I love the way the hands spin around to catch up when you shake it because its gone to sleep after 24 hours - very hip). But there is one thing that I REALLY love about this watch and that is that the date requires no resetting until the year 2100 (after that its just a simple change, though I'm guessing I won't be around to make the adjustment). I really wonder how many people think to reset the date on their watch when the first of the month rolls around - if you don't the date will become wrong pretty quickly since not all months have 31 days. So, if you're like me, the date on a watch is useless most of the time because the only time I think about it is now and then when I want to confirm the date and, when I do that, I realize that the date may be wrong so I have to do some mental calculation to figure out the date, etc. etc. I mean, if I can figure out the date on my own, what's the point of having it on the watch? So I absolutely love that this watch automatically adjusts for leap years, months with 28, 29, 30, 31 days, AM/PM, etc. ensuring that the date is always correct. I've never liked a watch so much. I wear it just about all the time. It's great!
