Back then, they were about 3 mille Lire (About $2.50 back then). Adjusting for inflation, that is about $5.30 in today's money. So, this box selling on desertcart for $7 isn't horribly bad. FWIW - they are "Cipsters" in Italy...same thing. Are they the same? Yes. Are they unique? Yes. Are they addictive? Yes. Taste incredible? Yes. I bought four more boxes. FWIW - a bag of Munchos at 7-11 cost $4 or more. And that is a "grab bag" size. Everything costs more these days, so might as well be broke and happy. So, if you are dismayed with desertcart's $7 price...rethink and put things into perspective. Review: Still the best crips after four decades of not being available in the US - Excellent! Not the original American Chipsters
These are a decent attempt at recreating the original American Chipsters potato snacks, with a few caveats. These don't burn your tongue like the originals, and they're a little bit smaller; that is, not as long, and not as thin. Not really a good dipping chip. However, the shape reminds me of the originals, and they are fairly salty, like the originals, and they have a very satisfying crunch that grows on you. The only real drawback is that like any other snack food imported from the EU and purchased in retail quantities, they're a little on the expensive side, especially if you have to pay for shipping. Still, I'm happy to have tried them, and I might even order them again if I need to serve up a mystery snack at a party. :-)

LOVE Chipsters!
We ate Chipsters a lot when I was a kid in the 70's. Can't find them in the U.S. anymore. I really loved these so when I saw them available, I bought a box right away! They were so good and it was really great to taste them again. Maybe I'll treat myself to another box on my birthday!
