Fits well, works as it should, minimal loss in image quality and very versatile
The ND2 – ND32 (2 – 5 stop) variable ND filter is an essential filter for capturing outdoor video footage, and the Urth variable ND filter is perfect for this. The build quality of the Urth ND filter is top quality. It is well machined, it feels nice to use and the two elements move smoothly with just the right amount of resistance. Adjusting the strength of the ND effect requires a little effort, which means I don’t unintentionally change the settings, but not so much effort I jolt my set up.A big problem with many variable ND filters is the cross polarisation effect, i.e. the dreaded X effect. The Urth variable ND filter has hard stops at each end and the dreaded X effect is not a problem. Another problem with variable ND filters is the loss of image quality increases as the ND effect gets stronger. The Urth variable ND filter does suffer from this but the loss in image quality is negligible and I am happy using it across the entire range from 2 stops all the way through to the full 5 stops.Vignetting and colour casts are other issues that often affect variable ND filters, and the Urth variable ND filters controls these very well. There is slight vignetting at 4 and 5 stops however this is easily corrected using editing software. Similarly, there is a slight colour cast at 4 and 5 stops but this is also easily corrected in post. There are markings on the Urth variable ND filter to give some indication of the strength of the ND effect but these are pretty academic since I set the aperture, set the shutter speed, set the ISO and then turn the filter until I get the correct exposure. The Urth variable ND filters aren’t the cheapest around and you can spend less on other brands. That said there are times when it is worth spending a bit more and buying variable ND filters is one of those times.Overall, the Urth variable ND filters are highly recommended.

Awesome!!
This VND filter is epic for the cost, had a full day filming with it at the weekend and even with shooting into the harsh sun, no colour casting or vignetting. Even more awesome to know your planting trees while getting awesome content

Cannot use a Canon lens hood with this filter
This Urth 77mm ND2-32 Variable ND filter seemed extremely well made, took a picture to check clarity against a Hoya I used on another Canon lens. Subtly to no difference, performance was obsolutely fine. However I cannot use my Canon lens hood. I always shoot with a lens hood so makes this filter absolutely useless for my purposes. Would have been useful to have known before ordering for everyone's sake. That said returned without issue, recieved full refund

Close, but no cigar
This is actually quite a nice piece of kit. Well built and does what it says on the tin. BUT, there is a major issue with it. Although it says its 62mm, once fitted its not possible to use a lens hood. I’m fitting this to an F1.0 lens that has a lot of glass on the front, so not being able to use a lens hood is a major issue

Urth 72mm ND2-32 (1-5 Stop) Variable ND Lens Filter (Plus+)
Gotta be honest, I'm a real fan of the Gobe / Urth range of products. The Urth 72mm ND2-32 (1-5 Stop) Variable ND Lens Filter (Plus+) hasn't missed a beat and performed as I expected.I'd be more than happy to purchase again should I need to.
