Great Product
Ive had this for about 4 months now & it is absolutely amazing- Im using it for 4- large dogs, it does a good job of keeping up as it isnt recommended for that many- I had this installed as my privacy fence was being put up- I dont think digging 2 feet in the ground would be fun, but if you are ambitious enough it will be worth ever minute of your time- This makes picking up so much easier!!!

TOTAL PIECE OF JUNK
IT ALL BEGAN PUTTING IT TOGETHER. THE LID WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED AND SOME OF THE HOLES DID NOT LINE UP. AFTER DIGGING AND DIGGING, PUT IT IN THE HOLE AND FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS PUT DIRT AROUND IT 1 SIDE AT A TIME...THIS CAUSED THE FLIMSY PLASTIC TO BECOME CROOKED MAKING SO THAT IT LEAKED ON THE SIDES AND THE TOP WOULD NOT CLOSE AT ALL. SO THE TOP WONT CLOSE, THE SIDES ARE LEAKING DUE TO PRESSURE FROM DIRT BENDING THE THIN PLASTIC, AND IT DOESNT HOLD WATER DUE TO THE POOR CONSTRUCTION. THIS PRODUCT IS CRAP AND STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU LOOK FOR SOMETHING ELSE. WISH I WOULD HAVE READ CUSTOMER REVIEWS BEFORE I ORDERED THE DOGGIE DOOLEY 3800 "DELUXE".

Flimsy plastic units but great customer service
Update: I contacted the Doggy Dooley company about my negative experience and was blown away with the level of superior customer service. They responded quickly and offered to send me a replacement. I decided to try the stainless steel option instead. I'll update again once I install the replacement. I was REALLY hoping the other reviews about the poor quality were wrong and ordered this instead of the stainless steel version because I like the small cover the pyramid shape offers. I should have gotten the steel one. Assembly was easy, digging the hole was long and arduous. Once the container was in, while backfilling (GENTLY) the pressure of the dirt collapsed the container and cracked the whole thing. it's useless and if I had the energy to dig it all up and send it back I would.

Too Much Doo-Doo
We've had 2 large labs for several years. Cleaning the yard was a chore but the more important issue was, "Where do you put it?". So we did what most intelligent people do. We got an Irish Wolfhound puppy to round out our family. Now there's a minor problem. You have two big poopers and add a small pony. This dictated we pursue alternative measures. Since we are on well and septic here is our community, I thought the idea of a second septic tank just for the critters would be practicle. After doing research, I found the Doggie Dooley system already exists, so I bought one. The only problem was the size of the hole you have to dig to install it. But that's done and now you have a practical and effective way to dispose of the waste. Carrying several buckets of water to the back corner of our 3/4 acre back yard where the tank is located is incovenient but a hose that long is not really an alternative. It's been in use for about a month now and looks like it's doing what it's supposed to do. If it does, it will make our life (and our back yard) a lot more livable.

Not Sturdy
I rarely write reviews, but in this instance I feel it necessary. Given the nature of this product and what it's purpose is, one would think it would be fit for its job. However, I found it very prone to failing, and when a person puts pounds of solid waste in it, having it fail is messy at best. The 'Dooley' is made of maybe 1/4 inch stiff plastic that is screwed together and stabilized with thin plastic beams. All of this is good in theory, but when placing the Dooley several feet into the ground, the placing soil on top of it, then compressing that soil, it does not hold up. I live where the soil is very fine, i.e. not thick like clay, almost like silt, so here the weight is minimal. When the Dooley was put into place and the remaining hole was filled in, it buckled. The bottom support, which is a thin plastic crossbar, snapped and fell to the bottom. Keep in mind that the hole for this poop storage container is at least three feet, maybe more if you have a big dog or more than one - in this case it was approximately five feet easily. So I was left with a cracked container, a snapped crossbar that could not be retrieved without digging the Dooley back out, and a lid that would not close correctly as a result. My advice is to steer clear of this thing and get one made of metal, or something more sturdy. I know that the company that makes the Doggie Dooley 3800 makes a metal model -> Doggie Dooley 3000 Septic-Tank-Style Pet-Waste Disposal System , and in hindsight it would have been better to have gone with that one.

Awesome alternative to bags full of poop!
I bought this one week after getting my puppy, One week of bagged poop was enough for me. South Florida in June is very hot and the bags of poop... well, you get the picture. I am a 50 year old woman and I built and installed this myself. It took a couple of days to dig a large enough hole - I only worked on it for 30 minutes a day in the early mornings (again, 50 year old woman, South Florida). I also dug a smaller hole, one foot deeper in the center of the main hole with a post hole digger as the instructions suggested (optional). I have been using it for five weeks now, it's the height of summer with days well over 90 degrees and nights 75 or warmer. I situated the Doggie Dooley within reach of a hose, put a splitter on the spigot and dedicated a hose for the Dooley. I scoop my puppy's poop with a claw scooper, drop it in the Dooley and use the hose to simultaneously wash the scooper and add water to the unit. I add a digester tablet on Monday mornings and we're good to go all week. (Note, I scoop the poop as it happens or, first thing in the morning if it's a night time load. I don't add dry poop.) Thank goodness I found a solution to bags full of poop (I swear future civilizations will dig up our landfills and between diapers and doggie bags they will think we worshiped poop!).

Easy to install, works great.
I have two large dogs (Shepard/Golden Retiever cross), and this unit has ample capacity. Tips: 1.Keep it moist! The enzymes can't work if the waste inside the unit dries out. A good weekly wetting is usually enough. 2.The enzyme mix that comes with the unit is limited in quantity. I find that the same mix is used in some enzymatic drain openers; "Drain Care" by Enforcer Products is one example. Cheaper than buying the mix from the Doggie Dooley folk.

Not a good product. Collapsed within minutes of first use.
We have a dog sanctuary so I was excited about this product. I got over that fast. When you dig the hole as directed the product drops right in. Then the weight of the surrounding dirt collapses it. Not something we will buy again or even use.

Expensive but works
This is a flimsy plastic affair which is never worth the money. However after 2 years use it still seems to be working ok.

What a waste...
If I could give this product no stars, I would. We haven’t even installed it in the ground but none of the cheap plastic parts fit together properly and the lid doesn’t stay shut! T also arrived with instructions not to let Bluebottles into it. Really?! How would one keep flies and maggots out when the ‘easy open,’ lid stays open? I’ve never wasted $100 so easily in my life and would not bother installing it at all if it wasn’t already assembled. This is the second time in as many years that I’ve been let down by North American products. Try to buy local...what a waste...no pun intended

Decisamente migliorabile
