Amazing book!! highly recommend! I am a Family Medicine resident, and this book is helping me a lot with inpatient medicine, the book is super clear and not overwhelming. I wish I woulda have purchased earlier!

The book is well organized into three portions: symptom/chief complain based differentials/ workup, most common ward conditions, as well as labs based diagnosis (plus some short intro of ICU topics and medications). It follows the tasks orders - i.e. take HPI, then work up needed, and differential and management. The workup is relatively complete - good for any newcomer to the hospital medicine. The most valuable part for more experienced reader is its cited classic clinical trials (such as guideline/goal direct medical therapy for heart failure). This is good to have for intern / senior med students who rotate through the wards. If your institution has a house officer manual, this book will be sorta redundant. If not, this book will be a good read. Compared with Pocket Medicine - it is to the point, doesn't kill eyesight, succinct, and builds your basics well.

As a first year intern, this book helped me tremendously for some of the common things and during those solo call nights when I had to assess patient's on the wards during the middle of the night. It is area specific (in that what may be common in your country, may not be covered in this book so bare that in mind) however it covers the basic 'common' presentations like ACS, Pneumonia, Syncope, UTI, etc. I appreciated the miscellaneous topics section as well and the common medication tables as well.
