A good hard drive
Arrived very quickly. Being used in an enclosure as an external backup drive. 4TB version. Packaging was ok (just cardboard rather than foam or bubble wrap) but drive seems fine. Formatted no problem and drive scan shows no errors. Only problem was my older enclosure (IcyBox - over esata) was ok with the previous 2TB drive but couldn't cope with the new 4TB one (both WD) - formatting errors. New enclosure (RSHTech - over USB 3) is fine with it. Very quiet and only slightly warm in its enclosure. Pleased so far.

Rock solid NAS drive
Purchased a pair of these drives. Have never looked back. Reliable and that's the way it should be. Using the drives in a SOHO setup for photography. No issues This is not the first time for me to set up a SOHO NAS but it has been the most stress free using these drives Deserves all five stars and more

Doesn't always work first time
My 2Tb Seagate Firecuda has been accumulating uncorrectable sectors so time to get it replaced, and not with another Seagate as they die too quickly. Even though it has gone in a desktop I wanted a CMR drive rather than an SMR one as shingling really stifles the write speed and I didn't want the big price increase of a WD Black drive. Ordered a WD40EFZX through Amazon but was sold by and shipped by Ebuyer. Why it was £20+ cheaper through Amazon rather than direct, I don't know. First drive arrived and I plugged it in. It made a weird chirping noise but proceeded to do a full format. It took 27 hours, which seemed odd, but reported no errors. I copied the contents of the old drive on to it, again no errors, but when I verified the copy numerous errors were reported. Deleting the problem files generated more errors and the Crystaldiskinfo SMART report started to show larger numbers of reallocated sectors and eventually started reporting read errors. WDs own data lifeguard also showed the errors and indicated the read errors would be a warranty claim. I filled in the return through Amazon, repackaged the drive and paid the postage to return the drive. From the Amazon site I though I was getting a refund once the RMA had been approved by Ebuyer, however, a few days later a new drive arrived. The second drive was plugged in and it was silent. A full format completed in a fraction of the time and filling the drive with randomly generated files reported no errors. Another reformat and copy the contents of the Seagate drive and all is well. The fact the first drive was faulty was an inconvenience, but it was no ones fault, it was handled correctly, and a replacement was sent. For that I am happy. The only reason why it doesn't get 5* is I did not get my postage refunded.

Good replacement for failed NAS disk
My Synology NAS had a failed drive. This was the same as the failed drive and was easily added to my NAS to give full back up capability again. No issues with it so far.

Short Life
Used WD Red Drives for years, these 'EFZX' drives are suffering early failure at an unacceptable rate. Of the two drives I purchased in 2022 one died after ~2900hours and the second has just failed after ~3200. The previous generation (EFRX) of WD Red 4TB drives are still going strong after 96000 hours with no failures. Avoid this series, massive waste of money and also worse performance than the pervious generation.

Western Digital Drive
After many too's and fro's conversations with the company, before the delivery matter was finally resolved, I have to say that Surplus Drives UK Ltd came up trumps, and I received my order. Albeit a little later than expected. The drive works well, and does it's job. It's worth stating that UPS were totally lacking in professionalism, telling untruths about delivery, and then taking it miles away to a pick up point. Surplus Drives had a hard time with me complaining about the non-delivery, but all is well now, and I am grateful for their patience. I will certainly purchase again from them.

Long Service
Have used the same Red drives in my nas for 10 years on 24/7 and have now bought 2 of these 4TB drives to put into a new Nas as my old one is end of life - not the drives. Hopefully these will give me the same service - the noise level is very quiet, in fact they are quieter than the 1TB drives I already have - I'll keep those for non essential data until they or the Nas fail.. Good price too!

Initially had some doubts due to the negative reviews of disk being dead on arrival. Especially when I received all items packed in thin plastic. The boxes are arranged side by side but can freely move on the plastic. The hardisk on each box is secured firmly though by a hollow plastic. Fortunately, the DOA issue didn't happen to me. I've order 3 pcs of 4TB and all are woking and no issue found after doing smartctl. I registered as well on the WD website and it has a 3y out of region warranty as well. I'm planning to purchase another set but with bigger capacity again but still waiting for more discounted price.

The delivered product was inappropriately packed. The first delivery did not work then was replaced, second did not work as well. A hdd merely in bubble wrap cannot withstand Desi logistics , both the HDD original and replaced failed to work , the replacement did not even spool up..
