Do you get recycling instructions along with the replacement battery?

Accepted Answer

No recycling instructions are provided, and contrary to the information from Call2Recycle, Home Depot will not take these batteries at their recycling centers. I ended up taking batteries to a battery shop who took them off my hands as a favor. This is in California as of May 2021.

is this the battery for APC xs 1500 unit?

Apparently, the RBC124 battery pack will work for most, if not all, XS 1500 units, but it is not always "plug-and-play. The pack I received is made for newer units of the XS 1500 for easy installation and compatibility. It will also work in the older (light grey case) Back-UPS XS 1500 that I own. However, it is NOT PLUG AND PLAY because the new battery pack's connection socket is different from the older XS 1500. You must remove the mounting bracket that comes with this new RBC (Replacement Battery Pack)124) and reuse the old mounting bracket that originally came with your old XS 1500 unit because it has the proper connector to plug into the old unit. APC has made the replacement process very confusing, especially for those of us with older XS 1500 Back-UPS  because they reused model numbers and published conflicting information as the new and old units have the same model numbers, but different mounting brackets and wiring harness/connector.

Whats the difference between rbc123 and rbc124? i have a br1500g is one a better choice than the other?

The difference is in capacity - The RBC123 is a pair of 7Ah batteries, the RBC124 is a pair of 9Ah batteries.  They are physically interchangeable.   Both will function in a UPS designed for either.   The units with the RBC124 specified may have a slightly more robust charging capability, so using the larger battery will likely result in slightly longer charge times in the smaller 1000 VA UPS units.  The difference in runtime with a typical load (an average desktop PC, with a 23" LCD monitor and normal peripherals) will be negligible - with the RBC124 giving you a few more minutes before shutdown.

Battery for the apc xs1000?

Yes. Check the bottom of the unit for the actual model number and use the tool on the APC website. It will list the 123 as the correct battery. The 124 is exactly the same externally, just higher capacity. They will both work in the same units, you just get more time out of the 124.
