## Overview

The Art Pro Audio P16 is a 16-channel balanced XLR patch bay designed for professional studios, live sound, and fixed installations. Featuring a rugged 1U all-steel rackmount chassis, front and rear gold-plated XLR connectors, and passive PCB wiring, it delivers reliable, noise-free signal routing while protecting your expensive gear from wear. Its compact design and robust build make it an essential hub for streamlined, high-fidelity audio management.

## Description

Ideal for any live PA rack, studio rack or fixed installation where easy access to XLR inputs are required, the P16 brings all rear-mounted XLR inputs from various devices to one, convenient single space rackmountable location. The P16 saves wear and tear on the connectors of expensive audio equipment by bringing all commonly used connections to the external patch bay. All-steel chassis, black anodized finish and secure, high-quality XLR connections front and back with internal connections made via PCB wiring ensure long term reliability from the passive ART P-16 Balanced XLR rackmount patch bay.

Review: This 16-point XLR patchbay delivers reliable performance in a straightforward, no-nonsense design. The build quality is solid - housed in a sturdy 1U rack chassis that feels substantial without being overly heavy. The front and rear XLR connections are robust with good grip, showing no signs of loosening even with frequent cable changes. The normalling scheme is well-implemented, with clear labeling that makes signal flow easy to understand. The parallel wiring configuration is particularly useful for studio applications, allowing flexible routing without introducing unwanted noise. The gold-plated connections provide excellent signal integrity, and I've experienced no degradation or interference across multiple patching scenarios. Installation is straightforward, though the depth might require some planning in shallow racks. The unit runs cool and doesn't require any special ventilation considerations. The spacing between XLR connections is adequate for most cable types, including some of the bulkier premium cables. While the price point is higher than TRS alternatives, the professional-grade XLR implementation justifies the cost for those needing balanced connections. The only minor quibble is that the front panel labeling strips are a bit small - you might want to use additional labeling for complex setups. For studios, live sound installations, or broadcast facilities requiring reliable balanced patching, this unit hits all the right marks.
Review: Great bit kit

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this pass through phantom power?**
A: Yes!

**Q: does it comes with only one pcb or it has an individual pc board in its circuit.**
A: The ART P16 has a single board. To 'reverse' the connections, you are really just flipping the rack ears. But it has 16 connections. The HOSA PDR-369 has individual boards inside and you can flip each individually to make a custom in/out combination... BUT... there are only 12 connections instead of 16.

**Q: Can you take this apart and reverse a few to be a combination of M-F and F-M?**
A: By searching ART P16 one of the first images is of the disassembled unit and it clearly shows a circuit board with connectors soldered on each end. I would say no its only reversible so all M or all F on Front or back. I bought four of them so I can have ones with all F and ones with all M and route my patching chain. P16 #1 has all of my XLR Snake channel signals. P16 #2 handles all of my MIC Preamp inputs. P16 #3 handles all of my MIC Preamp Outputs. P16 #4 handles all of my DAW AD Converter Inputs. This way I can route any microphone from my snake channels to any mic pre input and from any mic pre to any DAW Input Channel. I also have a 1/4" SAMSON patch bay that I can patch compressors and effects into this chain using XLR to TRS cables. Its a great system.

**Q: Can i go send signal from my mixer then hook my powered speakers to it.**
A: Yes. My x32 outputs go to a driverack and then out to this patchbay.my powered speakers are connected to 1 and 2. You have to reverse the rack ears to make it easy when rackmounted.
