Maty’s is Better Than Vaseline and Ayr Nose Gel —Truly Works!
I freaking love this stuff! My only complaint is that it’s soooo expensive because I go through it quickly—but it has truly been life-changing. I’ve had a wound inside my nose for over 10 years. Living in a dry, high-elevation mountain area, my nose only ever healed when I visited the ocean. I was embarrassed to bring it up with my nurse practitioner friend because I wondered if maybe I had a weird picking problem. Every single day I battled jagged scab-boogers, blowing my nose constantly just to keep it clean, but it always dried out and scabbed again. My friend reassured me that it wasn’t just me—it’s actually common with age and living at high elevation. She gave me a few recommendations, but this ointment is the one that actually seems to do the job with less side effects! I’d describe it as a perfect mix between Vaseline and Baraka Dry Nose Oil, but better. Vaseline never solved the problem for me—it would protect the wound while it was on, but it didn’t penetrate or heal the root issue. This Maty’s Simply Breathe Nasal Ointment seems to actually absorb into my septum and keep it moisturized all day, even if I blow my nose. Unlike Ayr Nasal Gel, it doesn’t sting—it just soothes and calms. Because of the cost, I rotate between products: Baraka Dry Nose Oil and Maty’s twice a day, and Ayr Gel as needed throughout the day. But honestly, Maty’s and Bakara Dry Nose Oil are my two most favorites. After over a decade of dealing with a nonstop wound, my nose is finally healing beautifully. It honestly feels like a miracle!

Surprisingly delighted with Maty’s Organic Nasal Ointment
Maty’s was quite the surprise for me. I am no herbologist, so I have no more knowledge regarding the ingredients in Maty’s Organic Nasal Ointment than I would for the ingredients found in prescription or over-the-counter nasal decongestants. But the number of high ratings for this product certainly caught my eye. I have had a problem of marked congestion accompanied by many scabs and blood from what the otolaryngologists (MDs for “ears, nose and throat”) believe was caused by long term use of prescription nasal decongestants back in the 1990s. It was also the cause of the “perforated septum” that I have suffered from for many years. In view of the causticity of most OTC (over-the-counter) nasal decongestants, one of my doctors suggested that I use saline gel instead. I was delighted at how well it worked for a few years, but even the gel stopped working completely, although gel it is efficacious in lessening irritation. Since I have tried all pharmaceutical and OTC meds for this problem, I didn’t think re-trying what has always worsened the irritation in my nasal passages would work any better now. As unpopular as herbal and homeopathic medicine has always been with physicians, nevertheless, I knew I had to look in a different direction. I don’t know if Maty’s would be classified as homeopathic or herbal medicine, but with so many positive and helpful reviews, I thought this was my best shot. My scabs and dryness began to clear very quickly—after only 2 days. After about 6 or 7 days, the scabs and bleeding were gone. I skipped the saline gel for about a week when I used only Maty’s. Now, I occasionally use it in-between if I need extra moisturizing. They work very well together. I realize that cayenne sounds as though it would be caustic to the sinuses, but the amount in the ointment works well. Apparently, cayenne reduces nasal congestion. And my congestion was apparently caused from my never-healing scabs and bleeding from caustic nasal decongestant spray prescriptions used over twenty years ago. I couldn’t be happier about finding a product that actually works for this annoying problem. I hope that it helps many other sufferers as well.

Wildly overpriced, doesn't clear nose but does soothe well
- Made in USA, sourced globally - A slightly runny gel - Expiry May '25 On of the box claims is helps relieve nite time stuffiness. I haven't found that to be the case, even a little. It says no fragrance and that's true but that doesn't mean it has no scent, it just means they didn't add anything specifically for smell. Its natural ingredients have no odor in the tube but once in the nostrils, it's a horrible warm black licorice type smell. Not excessive so I can get used to it but not at all pleasant to me (but I've always hated licorice). Still, it's a very solid 4 stars for me because it's doing a very good job at its other claim, soothing dry, irritated nose tissue. I use a cpap and have a high setting. For several years I used a nasal pillow then found out nasal pillow shouldn't be used at that high a setting. By then, though, it had already trashed my nose. Bloody noses 3 or 4 times a week and the outside rim was always sore and red. Even though I haven't used a nasal pillow for over a year now, I was still getting bloody noses. Using this every nite has completely eliminated the bloody noses. If I skip a nite, chances are I'll have another bloody nose. I'm hoping with some time it'll heal but for now, the red, peeling, sore irritation at the rim outside is gone and I don't have bloody noses. The price is wild and soft tissue like the inside of a nose takes ages to heal so I'm looking into making my own (ingredients are on the box) because I simply can't afford it with the currently trashed economy and artificial shortages driving prices up more. I happen to make my own supplements already and all the ingredients in this are easily sourced but if they'd priced it reasonably in line with its ingredients, I wouldn't bother making my own, I'd just buy theirs. So, effective product for soothing noses, just a stupid-trend-price and doesn't fully meet claims.

Best of the Best Product EVER - Please Come Back!
I am beyond devastated that this company or brand is no longer. It’s THE ONLY acceptable and effective nose cream product out there and I have tried MANY! It’s such a shame to see them go. No one compares to Matys.

Work on shipping
I love this product it works great however when it got to me the tube was out of the box and cap was off. The only reason I keep it is the seal was not broken. Shipping definitely needs some work

we love this ointment of natural ingredients
This ointment has helped my nose feel better and better. My spouse also says its been more effective than the hydrating gel that we were using. We use it at bedtime and can still feel the effects during the day. The formula includes coconut, tamanu, and evening primrose oils, and beeswax, all of which are great for skin! The maker could have used just the coconut, which hydrates and retains moisture, but added the other, more expensive ingredients. The tamanu is another nut oil that unfortunately doesn't smell very good but it's great for burns and sunburns. Evening primrose oil is an oil that usually smells kind of rancid because it's so fatty, but it's so lubricating. I was hoping that the scent of sweet beeswax would prevail, but no such luck. We apply with qtip swabs because the natural oil base instead of synthetic ingredients means that the ointment will be thicker when cold and runnier on warm days.

Tried everything else and came back to this
I have gone thru two tubes of this stuff, but with everything so expensive right now, I went on a quest to find a cheaper alternative. I bought 2 other highly rated products, one in a tube, one in a little jar, both less than half the price. I liked the idea of the jar, so I could just dip a cotton swab into it. Neither performed well. I don’t use it for oxygen or cpap, I use this stuff for a constantly dry nose. By the end of a day, I’ve got crusty junk inside my nose and it is irritating, plus it can hurt. The other products really don’t do much for this issue. This stuff, however, I only have to use every other day and it still keeps working!!! I have two slightly used similar products that are going in the trash and I’ve come back to Maty’s. It’s worth the price, The most moisturizing product out there. Smells pleasant, no more dry nose. Don’t waste your time on anything else.

Works as advertised
While I don’t love having to put a salve on the inside of my nose, this does work pretty well…and is waaaay better that going from my home near lots of water to high elevation or arid climates where it feels like just breathing through my nose is going to cause a nosebleed. It also works great when going to the snow. I also use around the small corners of my nose and mouth that can get cracked from dryness. There is a slight coconut scent when first applied but that dissipates quickly. This is best applied with a Q-tip but the tip of a pinky finger works well in a pinch too. I would recommend and have several friends that have borrowed and then bought their own tubes…so consider this multiple positive references for the product. Oh! I have very sensitive skin… in case that is a consideration in your search.
