No library's complete without the classics! This new, enhanced leather-bound edition collects the legendary fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. They are the stories we've known since we were children. Rapunzel . Hansel and Gretel . Cinderella . Sleeping Beauty . But the works originally collected by the Brothers Grimm in the early 1800s are not necessarily the versions we heard before bedtime. They're darker and often don't end very happily--but they're often far more interesting. This elegant edition of Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales includes all our cherished favorites-- Snow White , Rumpelstiltskin , Little Red Cap , and many more--in their original versions. With specially designed end papers, a genuine leather cover, and other enhancements, it's the perfect gift for anyone looking to build a complete home library. Many of these tales begin with the familiar refrain of โonce upon a timeโ--but they end with something unexpected and fascinating! Review: The classics at a good price - Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales is an enchanting and timeless collection that takes readers on a captivating journey through the magical realms of classic folklore. As a lover of fairy tales, this beautifully compiled book has been a cherished addition to my library. The book's comprehensive compilation of tales is simply delightful. From the familiar stories of Cinderella, Snow White, and Little Red Riding Hood to lesser-known gems like Rumpelstiltskin and The Frog Prince, the collection offers a rich and diverse tapestry of narratives that have stood the test of time. Each story is thoughtfully presented, preserving the authenticity of the original Grimm brothers' versions while still remaining accessible to modern readers. One of the highlights of this edition is the meticulous attention to detail in both the storytelling and illustrations. The vivid and evocative imagery transports readers to far-off lands, immersing them in the whimsical worlds of witches, talking animals, and noble princes. The accompanying illustrations beautifully complement the tales, capturing the essence of the characters and their fantastical adventures. What sets Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales apart is its ability to resonate with readers of all ages. Young readers will delight in the magical escapades, while older ones will appreciate the timeless wisdom and moral lessons embedded within each tale. These stories serve as a reminder of the human experience, teaching us about resilience, kindness, and the consequences of our actions. While some of the stories might contain darker elements or moral complexities, they add depth to the collection and prompt meaningful discussions on human nature and the complexities of life. The book's sturdy hardcover and high-quality paper ensure its durability for generations to come. It's a treasure that can be passed down as a cherished family heirloom, fostering a love for storytelling and folklore among younger readers. In conclusion, Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales is an enchanting anthology that rekindles the magic of classic folklore. Its enduring tales, combined with captivating illustrations, make it an ideal choice for readers of all ages. Whether read aloud to children or enjoyed in solitary moments of reflection, this book continues to captivate the imagination and remains a beloved classic that should be a part of every bookshelf. Review: The deeper you can think, the better it is.... - Love this book! These are more than just Fairy Tales. There is alot of history and philosophy in this book. One story is about how the world works, next story could be about some historical event being described by a child. Some are just for fun. If you're like me and love trying to read in-between the lines and can understand what the story creators are trying to convey, not take it at face value, then I highly reccomend reading it. Once you start, it's hard not to want to keep reading it. It's a must read for the curious. One story is stuck in my head. That last line. I'll let you wonder which one.....but you have to read it :)

Very beautiful hardcover with so many fairy tales. I love to pull it out sometimes and flip to a random page to read a random one. Also looks very pretty on a shelf

One of my best Amazon purchases
This is the most beautiful newly-printed book I have ever seen. The book is leather-bound with gorgeous deep burgundy leather and subdued, embossed cover art in two shades of red that continues onto the back cover of the book. The spine of the book would fit into a 200-year-old library if it did not look so clean and undamaged. The page edges are guided gold, and the pages are a light, antique cream color that adds to the book's aesthetics without detracting from the text's readability. Text size is fairly standard and easily readable, line spacing is very nice and readable, and a pleasingly wide margin surrounds all sides of the text. The book includes a roughly .25" wide bright red ribbon bookmark. Note: The book actually looks much better in person than the Amazon listing's art would lead you to believe. I don't know why the picture on amazon has a large red circular blob on the front of the cover. The actual book looks a bit more subdued, and overall much better. I hate it when a book looks old, only to have the illusion shattered by a giant "Penguin" or such publisher's logo on the spine or back cover, or a conspicuously white barcode and ISBN number in the middle of the back cover. I was pleased that this book's barcode and isbn info were printed on an easily removable sticker applied to the back cover of the book. With the sticker removed, the book would look at home in the classiest of libraries (the publisher's logo was tasteful adapted into a simple gold-embossed monogram "CC" that was seamlessly matched with the rest of the spine's text). On top of the book aesthetic features, Grimm's Fairy Tales are an excellent read for children and adults alike. I appreciated that this book contained simply the stories, without page and pages of bulky appendices, editor's notes, and other features that clutter the book without adding anything I would actually use. The book is 652 pages of 201 stories and 10 legends, with only a brief introduction at the beginning. Perfect. Overall, this book is stunning, and will probably be the most impressive book in most buyers' libraries. If I had paid $44.99 for this book, I still would not have felt ripped off, but at a price of around $16.00 this book is an incredible deal. Of all my purchases on Amazon, this ranks highly among my best.

Perfect Fairy Tales
Wow! This book, Grimmโs Complete Fairy Tales, by The Brothers Grimm, was listed as Used - very good but it looks and feels brand new. From the crispness of the binding to the immaculate gold edges of the pages, and even the red ribbon bookmark, I can find nothing less than perfect. Itโs a fine addition to my library. Itโs a beautiful volume and worth much more than I paid for it. I canโt wait to settle in and read it! Another reason to love this volume is that I used to live just outside the home town of The Brotherโs Grimm. Itโs about time I read their most beloved book. One thingโs for sure, the seller, Peterโs Rock Books, certainly knows their books as far as Iโm concerned.

Leather-bound, sure, but what type of leather? They'll never tell!
I'm at least 40% certain it's not human leather. Yep, definitely 30% certain. There's only about an 80% chance the cover is dried human skin... certainly not more than 90%... In all seriousness, this is a very nice book. It has a certain "Necronomicon" look to it, but since I'm pretty sure it's not that, I'll just say it's got very tasteful binding, and the gilding on cover and pages is gorgeous as well. I wish there were some illustrations, but honestly, the writing is so good that one's imagination can handle the load. Even as an adult, I found myself envisioning the scenes as I read. But sometimes it's fun to see what an artist thinks too. Anyway, complete collection, great stories, creepy looking book. I love the creepy cover because, let's face it, many of the fairy tales are kind of dark. Just to be nitpicky, I'm giving it a 9.5/10 because I would like some illustrations, but that would at least double the price (which I also like - very reasonable), and 4.75/5 rounds up to 5 so it all looks the same on the ratings board.

Great reading, but not cover-to-cover
Physically, the book is excellent: print is plenty big enough to read; binding, cover, and paper quality are worthy of the finest private library; the built-in bookmark is a nice flourish. And the price for all this is quite reasonable! No illustrations, which makes it less than ideal for children. Nevertheless, children should not only enjoy these tales, but learn some valuable lessons as well. Plenty to appeal to young imaginations: saints, devils, sorcerers, giants, dwarves, living from the magical to the mundane, glass mountains and fiery pits. The tales are instructive: life has purpose, people encounter quite serious challenges, people die, people are saved - sometimes through their own merits, and sometimes by luck. Adults (or children) attempting to read the book cover-to-cover will be disappointed. The stories are quite repetitive, recycling a basketful of themes in different combinations, over and over. It's kind of like an ancient Hallmark Movie Channel structurally, but with much more entertaining characters and plots. A fine addition to any family library.

This book has a beautiful cover
The front cover reminds me of the trees from Snow White when sheโs running through the forest and the trees are scarring her. The color of it is a deep dark auburn with a leathery look, the tree leaves pop due to the red metallic outline they have. The title is gold and the sheets of the paper when closed have a gold edge that make the book look fancy. It has a red ribbon that is imbedded in the spine that is used as a bookmark. The closed book is beautiful to look at. The paste down page is of an owl sitting in a tree with a castle background. I know some reviews said the cover was a recycled cover but I am fine with that part because they did such a great job I canโt tell the difference whether it is or isnโt recycled. There are 201 stories plus ten children legends, with a total of 652 pages- not counting the intro and table of contents. Each story has an average of three pages dedicated to it. Some shorter and a couple a bit longer. This book is a gift so I only read a couple of stories just to make sure they werenโt inappropriate. The reading level for this book I would guess is about fourth grade. The words are not difficult, they are mainly quick and to the point. The story is usually very short and you must imagine the in between of it. Thereโs usually no โmoral of the storyโ or background to why things happen, they just do, but I guess it is a fairy-tale book. I was just left with an incomplete feeling after each story, I canโt put my finger on what is missing but something is, at least for me. This book is for a teenager and I doubt sheโll be looking for meanings to the stories, Iโm sure sheโll love it and share it with her kids one day. I am happy with the buy, although I did feel it to be a bit steep in pricing.

A beautiful book and original stories
It's a really beautiful book, the details are amazing and the golden tip of the pages is a nice finnish. It's really great and I'm so happy that I finally got it. The stories are original, tho I haven't read a lot of them. Although the Amazon could protect the book a little bit more for the transport.
