The serving size is 1 tablet which contains 115mg of Magnesium (from 1000 mg Magnesium Malate). The dosage is based on clinical studies that determine how much magnesium should be taken daily to achieve the claims made on the bottle. In this case, 3 tablets are recommended daily for best results.

Q: how large are the pills

They are fairly large, about 3/4 - 1" long and about 3/8" wide and maybe 1/4" thick. They have some kind of slippery coating so they aren't too hard to swallow.

Q: How many tablets does it take to equal 1000 mg?

The Supplement Facts state serving size is 1 Tablet, and has 100mg Calcium (10% RDA) and 150mg Magnesium (38% RDA) per serving. 6 tablets would be 900mg, but they are so large I take the one tablet with applesauce anyway.
