Review: Inspiring! - I needed a change in the kind of books I was reading. Being a fan of GN'R I thought I would give this a whirl. Duff really showed you where he was and where he wanted to be. It was such an interesting read. I feel I know so much about this guy. I loved that he loves his family so hard. I loved that he seems to be an ordinary guy with a family trying to keep his home up on his own yet be a Rock Star at the same time. I was truly impressed with how he got clean and sober and I could see how much life truly meant to him. Thank you Duff, I enjoyed this book so very much. Review: Guide to living life right by a famous Seattle 4 Stringer - Fantastic, practical, humorous, and all around sound advice from a guy who’s lived one Hell of an interesting life. Who else could thank Marshawn Lynch, Steven Tyler and Old Spice in their acknowledgements? Breezed through this in a couple of days and I can’t wait to read his first book. This book was entertaining and insightful, highly recommended!

A Year in the Life of a Traveller
I'll start by saying that this would have been more appropriately titled How to be a Good Traveler as this book seems to be a year in the life of Duff as he travels the world as a rock star and all around cool guy. This isn't a complaint at all. The conversational tone of the writing makes this a very compelling read. This is especially true if the reader is invested in Mr. McKagan from his previous book or his rather large catalog of music. The pace is fast and this man definitely comes across as someone you would love to have a beer with if only he was able to enjoy such a beverage. I've seen a few complaints regarding the lists he included in this book. But I would disagree sharply. One of my favorite ways to discover new books, movies, or music is to learn what has inspired the artists that have inspired me in the past. In this light, the two lists are the most valuable passages in the book. I've already been out looking to add some of Duff's recommendations to my library. I'm hoping a few of them click and broaden my horizons that much more. And as far as the entries that I'm already familiar with, who doesn't enjoy having a rock legend validate their taste in music. I just wish I had a way to debate a few of his choices that I disagree with in the list. Most of the real autobiographical ground was covered in his previous book. But if the future holds a series of updates on this very interesting man's life in the form of books like this, count me in all the way. I'm looking forward to that almost as much as the potential reunion of the Appetite era Guns 'n Roses that this book shows isn't as entirely impossible as once thought. Write on and rock on Duff McKagan!

Not too bad. But not a Must Read. Okayish book.
I listened to the audio book. It was an okay book. Not a must ready. Neither is it boring or worthless. It might be helpful to young guys to understand good values in life. In the book Duff talks about how he went from being a drug addict to being sober and from one night hookups to being devoted to his family. This message is repeated chapter after chapter, and it becomes repetitive by the end. If you are a well-settled married guy with a family, there is nothing new in this book, which you don't have in your life. If you are young guy wondering what things are of value in life - fame, family or pleasure - it would be useful to you.

Loved it
I love memoirs and reading about peoples lives. Slash's book led me to Duff's book and I must say it's one of my favorites. What a cool guy! He also had the same breed of pup that my family has. The image at the VMA's to an image holding a CKC breed melted my heart. I had to read his book. I remember seeing him on tv with Slash after they won their award. After reading his book, you would never know it was the same person. Such an eventful life in his youth to what seems like a well balanced happy adult life. I rarely want to read two books the same writer has written or someone else has written about them as I don't want to read the same content or same stories, but Duff's book made me want to run out and buy his other book. Great writer. Great storyteller. Seems like a really cool guy! Highly recommend.

Cool recap
A great read for those that don't need all of the details. His advice for being a world traveler, husband, dad, etc, are pretty realistic/sensible and amusing at the same time. Not nearly as "fun" as his first book, but a satisfying read altogether.
