Powerful, Quiet, and Efficient Pool Pump Upgrade
Powerful, Quiet, and Efficient Pool Pump Upgrade I recently upgraded to the XtremepowerUS 2HP variable speed pool pump, and it has been a big improvement for my in-ground pool system. Installation was straightforward with the slip-on 2" fittings, and once set up, it started running smoothly right away. What stands out most is the motor—it’s powerful enough to handle high-flow circulation, yet runs much quieter than my old single-speed pump. The variable speed feature has been the biggest advantage. I can adjust the speed for different needs—higher when vacuuming or after heavy use, and lower for regular filtration—which not only keeps the pool clean but should also help with energy savings over time. The pump body feels solid, and the clear lid makes it easy to see when the basket needs cleaning. One thing to keep in mind: since it’s a 230V pump, make sure your setup matches the electrical requirements before purchasing. Also, the instructions could be more detailed, especially for those not used to pool equipment installs, though most pool owners with some experience will manage fine. Bottom line: This XtremepowerUS 2HP variable speed pump is a strong, efficient, and quieter replacement that delivers excellent flow and flexibility. A worthwhile investment for anyone looking to upgrade their pool system.

Good value. Works.
I have about 10 of these in service and so far all are still working. I think 4 years is the longest so far. This model matches a name brand model and drop in easy as a replacement normally with just two cuts to the old plumbing for the new connectors. Also I noticed the wire needs to be 2-3 inches longer to reach the connectors as the screws are on the opposite side of the name brand pump. I can pull the extra inches most of the time if there is extra in the timer box but if not a whole new harness should be used as they are around $20 and have about 6 inches extra on each end. This pumps works great at full speed. running it at low speed will not move a sweep but sweeps work fine at the high speed mode. If the pump is running hot you have it wired wrong, I noticed some bad reviews about it running hot. Have not had that problem with this model (2HP with 2 inch.) I only use this version or the name brand model which is about $1000 more than this one. Good bargain pump.

Pump nearly caught fire with 2 years of life; Worth the price?
To start out, I bought and installed this pump 2 years ago. It seems there is a new version for this pump, which might be better than the one I received two years ago. During the first year, the pump worked great and you couldn't hear it from the pool. I noticed after the first year the pump got a little louder. I'm not sure what caused this. I have a fence that seperates the pump from the pool, and the pump is roughly 20 feet away. After 1.5 years, you could definately hear it from the pool. The scariest thing is how it stopped working. I went out to switch the pump on manually, and suddenly the pump motor emitted sparks, smoke and made several loud popping sounds. The electrical burn smell was terrible. I turned the pump off, thinking maybe the controller box had a short or overload. After running a few tests, the controller box and circuit breakers were fine. I flipped the pump switch back on, thinking maybe there was a lizard (I live in TX) or some other critter in the pump windings that created the short, but even more sparks, smoke and pops were emitted than before. This pump motor sat less than 6 inches from my house. If this pump would have caught fire during it's normal run time, and my house was made of something other than brick or motor, it could have caused a house fire. This pump should have some sort of safety breaker or switch that disables power from the pump when it overheats or has a short. I gave up on trying to figure out what happened to the pump and bought a different one that does have these safety features. My final thoughts... I would spend a few more dollars and buy a pump with more safety features built in. If this pump would have never caught fire and continued to run, I would have given it 4 stars.

Motor quiet but requires some effort to install
Motor runs quiet and seems good. Note the size of the outlets aren't compatible with with typical existing unions so you may need to do some PVC work to use this pump. Also for wiring you will need some 90 degree female terminals because they aren't provided. This seems to be the only way to wire this motor as the optional screws where you can land the power wires don't seem to tighten down enough on the wire and ended up stripping. I used this for an inground pool. the motor wouldnt prime using the low speed so you should use the high speed for start up.

Long-Term Reviews Matter
I bought and self-installed this pump back in Oct 2022. Its hard to find good long term reviews as most people do them in the first couple of weeks. Install I thought was very easy(and this was the first pool pump I've ever installed)... I love the screw on compression connections, makes it very easy for later maintenance which im getting to soon. Electrical couldnt be more simple as a swap out(I am experienced with electrical though). This replaced an old Heyward 2HP that was here when I bought the house... for me this XtremePower 2HP runs stronger than the Heyward did, but I also think someone rebuilt the Heyward as some of the part #'s didnt match up. Regardless, I have a huge pool, and when the cartridge filter is clean, this pump cycles my water like a boss... so strong that the cheap old vacuum that was left here was getting stuck to the bottom of the pool(new vac fixed that, but the Heyward was never strong enough to do that). LONGTERM - It's been 1.5 years and this week the pump motor was running but i had very little water movement...My first thought(specially based on some other reviews) was that this low cost pump was dying. But before replacing it I needed to at least pull it out and give it a maintenance look since the motor was still running. My one knock on this unit is there is a fence on the Strainer Housing between the Pump Cover and the Impeller... so getting to the impeller with a screwdriver to see if its plugged is not an option, you have to disassemble it. I removed the pump, which again was super easy due to the screw on fittings, and electric again easy to remove. Im so glad i took the time to do this, I removed the Strainer Housing(6 bolts), removed the Pump Cover(2 screws), and exposed the Impeller. Sure enough after 1.5 years of debris, enough hardy small leaves from my shrubs snuck in there and clogged the impeller. At first I was a little angry I needed to do all this just to unclog the impeller, but I think after doing it, it was a blessing. I was able to clean all these parts with soap and water, including 3 of the o-rings( I didnt use lubricant as the manual stresses not too). After cleaning and putting it back together the pump looked brand new, and is once again performing as good as it did day 1... no leaks, no issues, great power. So, with a little care and maintenance Im hoping to get another year or 2 out of this little trooper... maybe more!!! well worth the money, specially being a lower cost unit. One other note, motor runs hot, and if left in the desert sun it might get hot enough to open up some sort of black hole or time/space continuum haha... be sure to keep this little gem in the shade, he deserves some comfort for all his hard work! Hope this helps.

Great Pump So Far!!!!
First I’d like to say that this pump is on the top 10 list. I’m old school, been hooking up these motors for some time, the thing that confused me at first was there was no Thermal Protection, No capacitor. I don’t see this information anywhere, so I’m passing it on to you to save you the research, I’ve had to go through. Then I googled some information, that California has some new power consumption ordinates. THIS MOTOR does not have a capacitor. “According to Section 1605.3(g)(5) of California's Appliance Efficiency Regulation, California requires: Pump motors that are made after January 1, 2006, cannot be split-phase or have a capacitor start-induction run type. Motors with a total horsepower greater than. 75 must operate at two or more speeds.” So after this was established I hooked the pump up to my pool system, found the High, Low and Common from my pool control relays. (My Pool System is controlling this pump completely automatically) Hooked the pump up, not using the High Low switch contained. The Pool pump is very pleasingly quiet and powerful. What I love most about this pump as it’s very quiet. My old Hayward pump was loud, annoying to relax in my back yard, this pump, it’s so quiet, you hardly know its running. All in all, I hooked this pump up myself, as the warranty requires you to register within 14 days with a receipt from an electrician, which I didn’t do. It’s about the 3rd of the cost of a Hayward. I will be purchasing this pump for my future pool pump needs. (Especially since I re-plumed my pool equipment for this pump). I just installed it this weekend, so I don’t have a longevity report yet. I’ll post more information in about a year. My last Hayward lasted 9 years, my neighbor states he's been changing his newer Hayward pumps about every year or two. I've found Replacement Haywards between $500 - $1200 not installed. So that makes this an incredible value. Hope you find my review helpful. UPDATE: 5/24/2023 I purchased this pump Jan 20, 2020, and it's still going strong!!!! I will order another one when needed. I will get a little bigger pump, but other then that absolutely NO COMPLAINTS!!!! An update my pump quit 08/15/2024 I ordered another one just like it. It ran for 4.5 years non-stop!!!! GREAT PUMP!!! The bearings dried out and pump motor froze. GREAT Value!!!!

Buyer beware; pump motor died after les than 18 months. No warranty.
Update January 2025: This pump worked well from July 2023 to December 2024 then then motor tripped its breaker due to apparently burnt copper windings. So, lasted less than 18 months in service with a duty cycle of 10 hours/day. I contacted customer support who informed me that there is no warranty after 12 months. I suggest looking at alternatives with better longevity and warranty. This review is for the XtremepowerUS 2HP In-Ground Swimming Pool Pump Variable Speed 2" Inlet 230V High Flo w/ Slip-On Fitting. The pool pump arrived on-time and well- packaged with protective padding in a sturdy cardboard box. I ordered this as a replacement for my 2-speed Pentair WhisperFlo system for which a motor winding had burned out after 10 years of service. The XtremepowerUS motor and pump system has similar placement of suction and discharge ports so it was not overly difficult to connect to the existing 2” PVC pipes after cutting them to size; the included 2” union fittings simplified the plumbing task. It was also possible to figure out the correct connections required to run this 2-speed motor from the Hayward control panel using the existing 240 VAC wiring (although the provided manual was not helpful in this regard). The XtremepowerUS pool pump has been operating for a week now and appears to be functioning correctly. The water flow is a little less than the previous system; low speed is sufficient to trigger the chlorinator cell but insufficient to satisfy the pool heater requirement (high-speed is good for both). The motor does get very hot to the touch and generates about as much noise as the Pentair; it takes between 1 and 2 minutes for the pump to self-prime at start-up. In terms of general functionality, I am reasonably satisfied so far. I am dropping one star from my rating mainly due to dissatisfaction with the supplier information for the following: Although described by the seller as a variable speed system, it is in fact a 2-speed system. The seller describes this as a 2 HP pump but the included manual identifies it as a 1.5 HP pump. I thought I was buying a 2 HP pump and am now unsure if this is what I received. The included manual makes reference to colored arrows in its wiring illustration but the manual is printed in black and white; so this is not very helpful.

Great pump
Was able to get this pump hooked up fairly easily. I have left 5 stars but several of the screws for the electrical wires stripped and we had to find other ways to connect the wire securely. On low speed the pump is very quiet, you wouldn’t even know it was running. On high speed it is still quiet but not silent. I will add more comments as time goes on. It very happy so far. This is a great value for the money and we received it super quick.
