Finger Paintings / Heart String / Wishful Thinking

There are two songs in this album that are so close to my heart: "The Only One for Me" and "Waiting for Cathy" respectively. My love for the first song developed from an Earl Klugh home recorded cassette that my former girl gave to me many years ago as a gift, and had dubbed it for me from her brother's vinyl collection at that time. The song has always been in my head; it is energizing and heart-warming. Unfortunately, the 'Wishing Thinking" album in which this song is featured and which I had bought, never reached me. So this collection was a perfect replacement for me. "Waiting for Cathy" is a song that I have listened to for the first since buying this collection. It is both romantic and evocative. For me, it could make a wonderful song for a romantic movie, especially against the backdrop of either a quite beach or sea as the madly-in-love couple strolls by arm- in-arm or against the backdrop of spectacular scenery of natural vegataiton and hills or even as one stands on a promontory casting one's gaze over the sea in its expanse. It is a sentimental and breathing-taking song indeed!!!

A compilation of three older and hard to come by cds. Remastered and nicely packaged. You fill your home, heart and world with this dreamy music. I highly recommend.

I bought this CD to replace my old lost ones. It is nice to hear Earl Klugh again. These are 3 good CDs on two disks. Makes my life more calm just listening to these CDs.

I got heartstring when it first came out and it sounds as fresh today as it did way back then. These instrumental songs are unsurpassed and nothing but the finest musicians are on display here. Play these discs if you need to relax your soul.

Earl Klugh makes beautiful music. He plays the guitar with such grace.

Please be aware that the two albums - Finger Paintings and Heart String - are on one disc, with the third album ' Wishful Thinking ' on a separate disc which is not as stated on Amazon's listings. This is better than splitting one album onto the two discs, in my opinion. On the music front, I simply can't fault Earl Klugh's playing. This period in the late 70's to early 80's is a rich period for Klugh with mostly great output. All three albums are very good with Heart String being my personal favourite.The re-mastering is done well - not over the top like some pop music ( just loud bass and volume ). The CDs have a sweet authentic sound although the sound of Finger Paintings tends to be a little dry , probably because it was recorded in 1977. The other two are from 1979 and 1984 resp. I would definately recommend this set to people who like acoustic guitar music who perhaps have bought Earl Klugh's compilation before and now want to delve deeper into his music. At least 4.5 stars for the music.

アール・クルーは今でも種々の番組等のBGMで聴く機会があります。自分が初めて知った頃は、トランペットのハーブ・アルパートと一緒によく聴いていたフュージョン系の音楽でした。彼の心温まるサウンドは、今でも輝いています。一部の作品が入手しにくくなっていたり、ベストアルバムもお世辞にも充実しているとは言えませんが、欲しい作品はほぼ入手できました。アコースティックギター好きな方には、一番にお勧めしたいですね。

期待通りではなかった。二枚組ではなく、一枚にベストな曲だけまとめて欲しかった。

I had these albums in vinyl but since I abandoned my record deck I haven't played them for years. It was therefore a delight to get all three albums in this one compilation - each one is a classic in its own right. This is great instrumental music and in digitally re-mastered CD quality, it is just fabulous. It is great value too!!
