This high quality, gorgeous gift is a steal for the price. My bronze version arrived today and I was quite surprised by the heft. The weight is probably in the product description details but I had no idea. It's also huge. I wanted to surprise a 21 year old at his surprise party with something fun. It's perfect and an unusual keepsake. Money will be inside instead of the rings. The engraved rings are sweet but I won't include them inside the gift. I'll slip them into a separate package so he can use it for proposals in the future should he choose to do so. I'm so glad I read the comments and ordered one. It won't be my last order.

I got this to hide clues to a vacation trip for my son. The quality is really amazing; very heavy and solid construction. I was worried it would be hard to reset the key word, but it was surprisingly easy and the directions were easy to follow. There were 2 rings inside the cryptex that reminded me of Lord of the Rings; very neat looking, though I couldn't read the writing with whatever font they used. I removed those since they were irrelevant for my purposes. The inside chamber is quite small... my original idea of putting envelopes in there was quashed. The chamber is about 3" long and about 1" high. I had to create tiny scrolls to put in instead. The box it came with was fancy enough to use as a gift box, so hooray for no wrapping! Overall, I really like this cryptex and hope to use it more often in the future. I just wish the interior chamber was bigger!!

This is incredibly made. I was intimidated at first with trying to change the password, but once I started it was super easy! This was a perfect 7th anniversary gift for my husband. I wrote him a love letter and put it inside.

I really like this cryptex. I was pleasantly surprised by the heft and durability. This is not a flimsy piece that could be easily broken into (at least that is the initial appearance). The mechanism works reasonably well, and is well enough made that it is not easily cracked by the usual means (tension and turning rings till you feel the click). I did not expect this to be a high security vault, but I was pleasantly surprised that it is (could be) more secure than I expected. As described, changing the code is easy, and all tools are provided, and the presentation box is nice. I do have a few complaints, though. First, the letter rings are free-floating, which means that as you turn one, it is easy to also turn the ones next to it. This can make it frustrating to get everything lined-up to be able to open it. This could make it nearly impossible for someone with low dexterity or a disability. Making the rings snap into position wouldn't have been that hard, although it would add a little more cost. Second, It is not what I would call "fine-tuned". The operation is rough at times. The pieces appear to be castings, which is good, but castings need to be finished, which was done just enough to make it functional, but you can see the lines where the parts of the mold came together, and they are a little rough, sometimes rough enough to make parts stick a little. Maybe my expectations are higher than most as I do little metalworking, so I know how easily it could have been made better. Maybe the rings were left free to spin and it was left intentionally rough to make it seem like it is an older, cruder piece, but craftspeople of such a piece throughout history would typically have paid attention to these details. Simpler and cruder doesn't always mean older, in fact it usually means that it is more modern and done to cut costs. Third, it turns out that there is a really easy way to get in without knowing the code: just unscrew one end cap and take out a couple screws that are revealed. Mine came off by accident, but when I tried to tighten it back on, it easily stripped the threads instead of tightening, but that is easily fixed with some superglue, which should have been applied during assembly.

This cryptex is legit. High quality material and looks amazing. I was more than impressed with its quality. Truly and piece that will withstand the times. Finally something that is not junk

Really nice packaging, great quality and beautiful. Easy to set the password and so handy that it comes with a screw driver. The rings were cute and unexpected but don't know what the engraving means so haven't used them. Also came with chains so you can hang the rings around your neck, which was also unexpected!
