My son has been sick since he started going to school last year. The amount of antibiotics he had last year was crazy. Every other week he was sick. This year since school started, he got sick again. After he got sick and 1 antibiotics I decided to do some research to up my kid’s vitamins and this by far is making us not always go to his doctor. He has not been sick (Thank God and knock on wood). He has cough every now and then but not totally sick. This and together with the D3 and the Mary Ruth’s Elderberry.

Very rarely do I take the time nowadays to sit and write a review but I am compelled to do so for this item so other parents know how amazing this tincture is. This winter the H1N1 flu hit my community hard. My little family and I choose not to vaccinate against the flu for personal reasons. My co-workers got sick, both my inlaws ended up in the hospital and I also fell ill though not as hard due to taking colloidal silver ( another story thats amazing ). The end result to this nasty virus is a horrible cough that rapidly turns to pneumonia. My son has been taking the recommended dose 3 times a day with his goats milk. Its slightly sweet tasting with no bitterness and is easily mixed with juice, milk or even yogurt. It has built up my son's immune system and has prevented him from getting sick. He got a little cough and I was so worried but it never amounted to anything and was gone within a few days. Last year he was sick constantly so even if his immune system might be naturally stronger now, the research I have done on the mix of these herbs and colloidal silver tells me its doing my son some real immune boosting. Will never be without this stuff during cold and flu season. Good health to you and yours

But I have to believe that the amount is quite low and insufficient. I had high hopes when i saw the list of vitamins, minerals, herbs that are included--as it was a one stop potion of what the book "Prescription for natural cures" recommends. However, the product does not list the actual amounts of items in it. I used it on my two daughters for quite sometime with poor results at best (that was with consistent use and multiple dosages at the first signs of sniffles or prior to even entering environments with many kids: preschool, park, chuck e cheeses, etc.) Through my experience, I concluded that this product is at best: an insufficient and ineffective preventative and/or healing all-in-one, at worst a shameful marketing gimmick. I do not recommend this product--you will just be throwing your money away if you buy it. Ironically, this brand does have another product that is marketed for allergies (Aller-Care) that does indeed work for seasonal allergies very well, but also works very well to prevent getting a cold/flu or healing one fast. I HIGHLY recommend that product! ------------------------------------------------ UPDATE: Well, as luck would unfortunately have it, my daughter caught a very, very bad virus that was going around shortly after my comment on Feb. 23, 2014. So, I indeed gave 1st defense a try again, for 5 days. I upped the dosage twice as much as was listed, 3 times a day. I went through two bottles and did not bother getting more. This seemed to make no difference--AGAIN. Instead I found another product that had the same ingredients and a couple of others and that seemed to be more effective--although I will have to use that product exclusively next time to truly verify. As it stands now with this new experience, it still appears to me that this product is not as effective as the more recent reviews make it out to be--and quite possibly could be ineffective period as I had originally reviewed. This is truly unfortunate because as I said before on the surface it has a lot of the ingredients one would want in a product like this. I still stand by rating and review. Well, at least it appears I have found a suitable and effective replacement, time will tell.
