VERY SOLID, VERY EASY TO INSTALL, EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY. COMES WITH A VERY USEFUL DEADLOCK FEATURE.

This was bought as a replacement for the same model lock where the snib had become detached. I only needed the body of the lock and used the same backplace and higher rated Yale cylinder as before. The replacement took little more than a couple of minutes to fit. Just two screws to remove the old lock and fit the new one. It all works smoothly and solved a problem with minimum fuss but there is a difference from the previous lock which rather cheapens its appeal. The handle on the previous lock was a satisfying, smooth affair with a tactile, rounded back, such that you did not notice it when opening the door. The new one looks the same, except the back is cut out so instead of a smooth rounded handle you have the same frontage but a cut out hollow back which obviously doesn't affect the working of the lock but does make the otherwise smart looking lock feel a bit cheap and nasty when you hold the cut back handle. It might have saved a couple of pence a lock but questions qulity, encouraging you to wonder what other corners are being cut to shave production costs. So, to sum up, a good, solid lock, with a smooth mechanism and a cheap, budget handle.
