Works well but wow is it hard to open
It works pretty well but you will need to apply it multiple times, depending on how much lightening you want. Also, make absolutely sure you use this in a well ventilated area. This is a fairly potent acid and I started coughing just from the fumes as I was mixing it. I guess that's why it's so hard to open. Best option is to use a flat table knife or screwdriver and work your away carefully all around the lid.

Excellent Wood Brightener for Removing Dark Stains and Discoloration
I used this Savogran oxalic acid wood bleach for restoring and lightening stained wood during a refinishing project, and it worked extremely well for removing dark discoloration and water staining that normal sanding alone would not eliminate. The product was especially effective on areas where iron staining and weather exposure had darkened the wood unevenly. Application was straightforward as long as proper safety precautions were followed, and the results became noticeable fairly quickly after treatment. Once neutralized and dried, the wood surface looked significantly cleaner and more uniform, making it much easier to proceed with staining or finishing afterward. It’s one of those products that can make old or stained wood look salvageable again when traditional cleaning methods fall short. What I appreciated most was how effective it was without aggressively damaging the wood surface itself. For restoration work, woodworking, or refinishing projects involving dark stains or discoloration, this proved to be a very useful product to keep on hand.

Brilliant product. Works like mirracle
It brightened the old wood. Users should be careful to remove old paint or varnish completely. Opening the container is little difficult

Great for cleaning, not so much for bleaching wood
This didn’t work as well as I had hoped. I was attempting to lighten some drawer faces I had sanded to raw wood. They are quite ‘orange’ in their undertone and I wanted to make them lighter before sealing them. It helped a small amount and although I repeated the process 3 times, I just did not notice a huge difference. That being said, it was very easy to understand the directions and after reading about the process of bleaching wood, I realize it’s not a magic bullet. I think I might have chosen poorly, but the bag does say ‘wood bleach’ so I expected a little more. If you use this, DO follow the directions and use the safety goggles and heavy gloves. It makes a difference- especially if you drop the liquid once it’s mixed together. As for cleaning, it has been useful in getting some stains off our pool coping. It is also a good value and a quart goes a long way.
