Favorite styler this summer!
EDIT: Added a couple more tips I've found helpful in the application process. Also, I've since tried purple and it was a massive fail. Did not show up in my hair at all sadly. This curl color gel satisfies my itch for bright hair without the upkeep or damage of bleaching my dark coily/curly hair. It's fairly easy to apply, dries in a reasonable amount of time, and looks gorgeous in and out of sunlight. It's been a great way to make summer haircare more fun. I actually look forward to wash days because I know I'll be playing with color 😁 So far I've used this color gel for a braid out+bun, medium "mini" twists, and a twistout. I plan to try a wash and go as well. I'm hoping to use this for Ren Faire and Black Fae Day since wigs aren't my thing. So far I've tried blue, gold, silver and mint. Blue is far and away my favorite color of the collection and has the best color payoff of all the ones I've tried. Gold was a bit of a fail--it washed my features out and looked more like mud in my hair. Mint was a bit disappointing too--since green cancels red, it looked dim and faded in my reddish brown hair. Some colors transfer more than others. I've found blue to have the least amount of transfer; mint and silver transferred the most to me. One con: I use a lot of product and my hair isn't super long or exceptionally thick. I use at least half a jar of blue every time I style. If you have waist length+ hair, very thick hair or are on a tight budget, focus on applying this at the ends of your hair to stretch it. There's definitely a learning curve with this product, so here are my tips for best application and color payoff (for reference, I have average density, fine/medium strands and low to medium porosity BSL+ hair. My natural color is dark reddish brown.): 1. USE GLOVES. Seriously. Especially if you tend to touch your face. The color washes easily with soap and water, but it's still best to use protection when applying it. Yes, it's a hassle when you want to mix colors, but you will be glad you did. Cover your nearby surfaces too, and wear an old t-shirt or something you don't mind getting stained. I'd also recommend a towel or cloth around your neck/shoulders. I also use gloves anytime I touch my hair for the first day or so, since I'm heavy handed and more transfer happens for me on days 1-2. 2. Protect your hairline, ears and neck with a thin layer of vaseline/petroleum jelly. This will make it easier to clean up any bits of gel that migrate. 3. Apply to barely damp or dry hair. You will need more product vs applying to wet hair, but it will dry faster and have a better color payoff. 4. For my fellow type 4 peeps--apply to stretched hair! It will make application easier and faster since this product is more of a pudding consistency. 5. Top the gel with a mousse. Mousse will reduce transfer by "sealing" the color in and speeding up the drying time. Any mousse you have at home will work. If you've never tried that sort of product, The Doux Mousse Def and Camille Rose Naturals Spiked Honey Mousse are good ones to try. This was a game changing step for me! Nothing will ever 100% reduce temp color transfer, but this will get you pretty dang close! Even the heavy transfer colors stay in place better with this approach. 6. Dry and set with heat! You *can* air dry, but that will take a long time, especially if your porosity is on the lower end. I used my soft bonnet dryer (RIP that now-blue plastic lining) and my ionic hard bonnet standing dryer. I had best results with my ionic bonnet dryer. An hour under there (a few hours before bed) was plenty after styling on damp hair. 7. Mix and match! I never use just one color; I combine them to create more dimension and show off my hair's texture. Blue is nice on its own, blue and silver make a beautiful ice blue that I like to ombré. I've also mixed blue + mint, blue + mint + silver, blue + gold, and silver + gold. 8. Enjoy and prepare for compliments 😁

Great temporary color
Hot Red - The formula has the same consistency as their leave-in conditioner which made for an easy application; maintained my curl pattern really well! Very pleased with the vibrancy of the color with my medium brown hair. Stains as expected but easy clean up with a wash or two.

Perfect Shade of Blue on my black 4C Hair
TLDR: very happy with product. Minimal transfer once dried. Brilliant blue on black 4C natural hair. I applied it on wet hair during my twist out. I was very happy with this product! I have always wanted blue color in my hair and was too chicken to use any kind of semi permanent or permanent dye. Someone suggested this product. I applied the color to my 💧wet💧hair as I did my twist out. I was lazy and only partially dried it under a dryer hood. Then I slept in a binder and let the rest dry overnight. There was minimal transfer on the inside of my bonnet. I am new to the process and I had blue dye all over my forehead but a wipe with a wet cloth removed it immediately…even the dried portions. Pros: 👍🏾👎🏾 -color: this is the exact blue I wanted. I have black 4C natural hair. I only wanted parts of my hair dyed. The color showed up very well! (See pic) I applied the color on 💧WET💧 hair. I don’t know how well it works when applied to dry hair because I’ve never done this. -transfer: Once it dried, I really didn’t notice any transfer. But it is a dye. If you are Willynilly and don’t use gloves , don’t lay down towels for accidental drips, or don’t pay attention to what you touch it will look like a Smurf massacre. The first time I used this product I did none of those things. Good news is that this color washes out easily. The second time I acted like I had some sense and prepared my work area and wore gloves. It was perfect and the mess was minimal. -wash out: Washed out easily with normal shampoo. -duration: lasted until I shampooed it out (about a week/week and a half. May have lasted longer if I had t washed it out. The blue was still noticeable a week later. -cost: reasonable -smell: I have allergies and am extremely sensitive to strong perfumes. There is a barely noticeable smell. I nearly had to stick my nose in the jar to smell it. - that jar is gonna last me forever. It didn’t take and excessive amount, but the strands did need to be saturated to get the more noticeable blue color. I don’t know how long the jar would last if I colored all my hair. I only wanted blue pops of color. -dryness: I don’t remember this drying my hair. Or flaking. Cons:👎🏾 This is a color wax. There is the POTENTIAL for a glorious mess. If you don’t use common sense and use gloves, put down towels or something to catch accidental splats, or watch where you touch you will get color all over. You can’t fault dye for being a dye.

Only buy if you want everything you own & touch to be as red as your hair
First, I’ll start with the good. The color is absolutely gorgeous! The red is vibrant & beautiful - if I hadn’t experienced the after effects of this product, I would have bought this again & probably other colors. It also smells great & goes on very smooth. Now on to the bad, this product absolutely did not become non-transfer when it dried. It dyed literally everything it touched + flaked off & dyed a trail of my steps. My house & my car now look like crime scenes. I’ve done 3 loads of laundry so far of just towels & clothing that were completely covered in the stuff, either from direct contact or from desperate cleaning attempts as I moved around the house. After almost an hour of cleaning my bathroom where I applied the stuff, I finally gave up, escaping the crime scene in as best shape as possible - aka grout, walls & bathmat still showing remnants of red, but realizing my very presence was causing more harm than good so leaving it to be a later problem when I hopefully wasn’t a walking disease. On to the car, I had my boyfriend cover all surfaces with towels, which did keep everything but the ceiling safe, so now it just looked like cast off from where my hair brushed the ceiling & visor. I arrived at the event & my costume was a hit - I managed to not touch my hair without gloves at all, which kept transfer to a minimum, but I still had to be careful where I walked or sat. My hair transferred everywhere it touched me, so my arms, chest & back were all bright red, but otherwise it was ok. Then, it rained. Total nightmare. I looked like I was bleeding from the head, everything I was wearing was completely covered in red & the towels in the car were no match for red-dye soaked clothes. I got home & tried desperately to wash it out, the entire shower was covered in a red film, which I had to scrub down, the gel did not come out with 3 washes & is still transferring to my pillow, clothes, hands etc… it is at least not flaking now, and the color is still absolutely beautiful, but I can’t touch my hair or let my hair touch anything & have been cleaning red for two days, which has me actually seeing red. I have never before understood how someone could say a product caused emotional damage, but now, I understand that sentiment. I can replace the loofah, brush, diffuser, comb & hair accessories the red infiltrated & hopefully eventually the red will wash out of everything & clean out of every corner of my home & car, but I can’t get the time or stress back of the time spent saying “out damn spot” like a madwoman, the tension with my boyfriend over the state of his car, the “otherness” I felt at the event & how much I had to avoid due to my “status” as a literal untouchable. 0/10 - would not recommend this product

Messy but pretty
Color shows up pretty well on dark hair and it has a nice hold, fragrance and texture as well. However, the red color gel was not easy to wash out. Definitely use gloves for application because it gets messy. It’s also worth mentioning that the protective seal was not adhered very well and the product was all over the top.

Affordable fun
Easy to apply. Just be cautious because it stains on everything. Good thing is that it washes off easily. Color was bright for about 2 days before fading. My hair is a very dark brown but this showed up great for me. If your looking for something fun for a day or so this isn't a bad choice. I posted pictures. Before the As I Am Hot Red and after.

Excellent product 100% recommend
Excellent product. Bought it to color my 8 year old daughter’s hair blue for a Disney Descendants The Rise of Red Concert where she dressed up as one of the main characters named Chloe Charming. She has dark brown curly hair and it colored her hair completely. Her hair was blue which made her costume even better. We just the As ai Am Long & Luxe leave in conditioner with it so her hair could be protected from the dye. Ended washing it out the next day as we came home late from the concert. To my surprise. It washed out very easily. The only downside is that it doesn’t dry completely, I had to put a towel on my car seat so the blue hair dye didn’t transfer onto the car seat. And I put a sleeping cap on her head when she went to bed so it won’t get all over her sheets. Other than that, it did what it’s supposed to do which was to make her hair blue.

beautiful red color
i think this product is amazing, honestly it did get all over my stuff but for me it was pretty easy to wash off my hands, clothes, etc. haven’t washed it out of my hair but i think it’ll be somewhat else. Been in for two days now and haven’t gone anywhere, some transfer when I’m putting in other products but that’s also okay! great job
