Prepare as directed & enjoy
Following the directions, we rinsed and soaked these noodles while we prepared the noodle additives. We stir fried all of the vegetables and then made a quick peanut sauce. After removing the hot vegetables from the wok, we added these noodles for a dry fry as outlined on the noodle package. The noodles absorbed the flavors in the wok from the stir fry. Once the noodles were hot, we added back the vegetables, gave the whole thing a toss and turned the hot noodle mixture into a bowl. Lastly, we tossed it all with spice peanut sauce and, well, YUMMY! The noodles didn't break or disintegrated in the hot wok or in the bowl. We'll see how they do on re-heating. The konjac is really filling, so zero calories and we still can't finish a serving. We've tried Miracle Noodles and like them, too. But, we're glad to have another choice in the zero carb zero calorie universe. These noodles are very close to Asian lo mein noodles in terms of consistency and size. By comparison, the Miracle noodles are more like cellophane/rice noodles. Both are good when the directions for preparation are followed. We couldn't believe how good these were for virtually zero calories and zero carbs. Before we cooked them up, we also weighed them. With the shipping water removed, these noodles have a net weight of 12 oz, so there's about 2 ounces of water in the packet. This makes these noodles about half the price of Miracle Noodles. We think that reviewers who have issues with taste and smell might follow directions on the packet. When the noodles are first opened, the smell is pungent. But after soaking and rinsing several times, and then dry frying, they're completely neutral with no bad smell or taste. We're over the moon that we can have high fiber, guilt free lo mein pasta. Yay.

UPDATED: It's like eating rubber bands!
UPDATED: I now know why it was so bad. It looks like some of the product wasn't completely processed. The bag I initially opened (first photo) looked and tasted like rubber bands. The second bag (second photo) was exactly like I hoped for, it tasted and felt like regular Konnyaku noodles. It was very good! The third photo is the manufacturer codes so they know which batch was affected. It seemed like someone in the processing plant forgot to "cook" half of them and just bagged the raw product. 3 bags in my order were like this, so ½ of my order was inedible. It's still a horrible deal since the manufacturer won't let me return the inedible product to get a replacement, so I am keeping my 1 star review. If they reach out to me to give me a replacement, I will change my review. +++++ I had such high hopes for this product. I have tried other brands and liked them but this, by far is the worst out of them all. I followed the directions on the package, rinsed them and boiled them for the recommended 5 minutes. Then I tried the noodles... it's like chewing a rubber bands... I couldn't even break it down by chewing them. THEY GOT STUCK IN MY TEETH! I thought maybe boiling it longer would help. NOPE! This time it was harder to chew, if that is even possible. What really stinks is I cannot return it so I wasted the $28 on garbage! Do yourself a favor and don't buy this product!

Pro's and Con's, would buy again
These are amazing in terms of calorie intake. I just started keto and I wondered what I was going to do with my pasta obsession so... decided to try these. I don't know a lot of asian recipes but I know italian recipes so this is what I did: Opened the package. Put them on a strainer under water and moved them around to rinse them. The smell is kind of nasty but once you rinse them the smell is gone. Put them in a hot pan with a bit of olive oil and sprinkled some salt and black pepper on top and moved them around with a spatula to get rid of any liquid. Then used a low carb alfredo sauce with mushrooms and cooked and chopped some bacon on the side. Topped them off with Parmesan cheese. BAM! The texture takes a bit to get used since it feels rubbery but they don't really taste like anything once you cook them with other stuff. All I could taste was bacon, Alfredo sauce, and Parmesan cheese. I found it one of the most satisfying meals I've had since I started keto. I must admit I did get some intestinal cramps later that day but I am not used to having a very high in fiber diet. It is the same type of cramps I've had when eating things high in fiber, like almond meal for example. Also, I should say I ate a whole bag in one sitting so managing your intake on these might make a difference. My bowel movements that night were fantastic though, so there's that. You might want to take it slow with these when you first get them. I've seen a lot of people comment that they made them ill - you might just not have the stomach for it. All in all, I will continue to eat these in moderation and perhaps a bit more once I get used to a high fiber content without the cramps. Their nutritional value is amazing for how satisfying they are. I saw there is a "Better than pasta" brand but I have not tried it. If anyone care to commend I'd love to see a comparison.

Good For Diabetics, Pre-diabetics and Gluten allergies
Yes, it's expensive, and yes it smells bad when you first open the package, and yes it's a lot like chewing rubber bands. On the other hand, if your a diabetic, or pre-diabetic, which I am, then this is the best alternative to pasta noodles that I've found so far. It's also great for those with gluten allergies. Bottom line gluten free, low calorie, sugar free, and most importantly low carb. A similar serving of my whole grain pasta has 40 grams of carbs vs. 4 grams of carbs for Better Than Noodles. The package came on time, and the packaging itself is excellent. The product is sealed in a plastic bag that comes inside the outer bag which is very sturdy. Expiration date is 1 1/2 to 2 years from purchase date. They smell when you open the inner bag yes, but rinse them really well in cold water before cooking and that smell disappears. I added mine to pasta sauce after boiling for 5 or 6 minutes. I suggest going heavy on the pasta sauce because it's not entirely pleasant eating this product, it's a lot like chewing rubber bands. I ate the entire serving right after cooking it because you don't want to put the leftover noodles in the frig and reheat them later, trust me. Bottom line, gluten free, and only about 10% of the carbs that regular pasta noodles have.

I mean, anything’s an improvement over cauliflower rice.
There are three kinds of Amazon reviews: the good, the bad, and then the raw, unvarnished truth. This is that review. Better Than Rice is fine if you, like me, love rice but want to curb carb intake. It’s okay. I’d liken it to the mystery of death and the unknown in which your hope is for heaven, your fear is of hell and, lo and behold, you wake up to find yourself in a kind of mediocre limbo where things might not be dreadful but they’re not quite amazing either. If you’re expecting the equivalent of fluffy white rice sans those pesky carbs, you’re not going to love the experience. If, however, you’re like me and now yarf at the mere mention of cauliflower or broccoli “rice,” you won’t be mad at the results. At the end of the day it’s fine. I mean, it’s NOT rice but it’ll do and won’t kill you and, by the time it’s all said and done, you’ll feel marginally better having saved yourself unwanted carbs and calories even if your tastebuds are asking what exactly just happened here. Just don’t expect anyone even remotely a celebrity—and I’m including the entire cast of Jersey Shore here so I’m being incredibly generous—to hit the beaten path promoting this stuff as the answer to your rice substitute prayers because it’s not. Not unless the tag line reads, “Better Than Rice. It’s what you’ll settle for I guess.” So, give it a shot is my advice IF you love rice and IF you were over veggie rice like yesterday, tomorrow and forever. Just know going into it you’ve been warned: Helen Keller and Ray Charles could both identify this stuff from the real deal on Quaaludes in a driving snowstorm upside down. And there, my friends, is the Better Than Rice truth. You’re welcome.

I’m impressed
We really like this. I’ve tried the other brand of “m. noodles”, made with the same ingredient. Yuck! This particular brand was easy to open. There was NO fish smell or taste. I smelled a yeasty veggie smell, but wasn’t gross. I don’t know what all the drama is about with some reviews. It’s not rice. It doesn’t have that starchy chew. It’s a great alternative and totally makes a better cauliflower rice dish. I’ve used 2 bags so far. I add this to cauliflower rice and it changes the whole dish. It really is good, with net 0 carbs. After opening the bag, I rinse in cold water through a mesh strainer. I then run scalding or boiling water over it. I throw it in a dry pan / wok and dry the moisture out while stirring. Maybe 2-minutes. I then add to riced cauliflower and it’s delish. I made stir fried “rice” tonight and this definitely made the cauli rice fluffy, like rice. It took on all of the yummy Asian flavors. I used this as a bed for a low carb Korean Beef Bowl. It was a hit! Will definitely order more.

Great if you enjoy feeling nauseous and strategically planning for emergency stomach distress
This is my first review. All of my other hundreds of Amazon purchases, even those with faulty design and the products that fell apart shortly after purchasing, were not enough to prompt me to write a review. However, I could not keep silent about these noodles. 24 hours ago I was filled with excitement at finding a noodle replacement that didn't involve spiralizing vegetables. As many have noted the package has a terrible smell when you first open it. This was quickly alleviated by running the noodles under water. We prepared the noodles and added a mushroom sauce. As we ate we gushed about how excited we were to find these noodles and discussed plans to try to the rice version to get a break from cauliflower rice. All was well. Until 6:00 this morning when I woke up with stomach cramps and severe nausea. I made it to the restroom and had a few moments where I thought I would see the once glorified noodles again. The initial severe nausea has passed and now I have intermittent nausea and a headache and my husband has similar symptoms. I'm super thirsty but can't drink much because it makes me feel sick. My husband and I have one bathroom in our apartment, so we're strategically trying to plan in case some of the other side effects (DIARRHEA) start to happen to both of us. We still need to flip a coin to see who will get the trashcan. I would recommend looking at possible side effects and warnings before consuming these miracle noodles. We may have eaten too much for our first time trying them, so that could be the cause of the reaction, however, we're not going to eat any of the other packets to find out if we'd have better results with a smaller amount. I started Googling these noodles and found some other similar reviews that I somehow missed when I was ordering these, so at the very least do some research before purchasing, and if you do decide to try them good luck and have some trashcans ready if your people to toilet ratio is unbalanced in your household. As for us we're going to stick with zoodles and cauliflower rice in the future.

It’s not actually pasta.. so don’t expect it to be haha
I don’t know why so many of the reviews here expect a pasta replacement with basically ZERO carbs to taste and feel exactly like actual pasta.. SO.. 1) yes the initial smell is a little fishy. I assume most people here read reviews before purchasing and know about the smell.. so my advice.. don’t get all curious, stick your nose in it and take a big whiff.. just dump it into a strainer and rinse it off really well. But honestly, I have never had that initial light fishy smell before it’s cooked effect the flavor of the dish. 2) the texture is a bit rubbery and the flavor is bland. I recommend cooking them a bit longer (I’ve done as long as 30 mins) to absorb more flavor. The texture isn’t going to change much, but the good thing about this texture is that it doesn’t really break down and get soggy like regular pasta and leftovers store like a dream. Personally I really don’t mind the texture. I was never a fan of how mushy pasta gets anyway. 3) I’m not diabetic, or on any keto diet.. I just genuinely wanted a replacement for higher carb pasta dishes. This stuff takes the cake in my opinion. As long as you are open minded and understand that it isn’t going to be exactly like those $.25 packages of ramen you’re used to, I don’t see how anyone could be disappointed! TRY IT!
