Would this product work on an ancient kitchen sink?

Judith, I believe what you really want to use on an "ancient" sink is Rust-Oleum 7860519 tub and tile refinishing 2 part kit. It is a kit made to prep the sink so it has a smooth surface, and then you can paint it. Everything you need is in the kit, including the paint. That being said, this is not a simple project. You need to sand the sink first till you have a smooth surface to paint. It is labor intensive, and any parts not sanded perfectly will show the imperfections. The paint, even the one you ask about, gets all over. It creates a mist that will get on everything including you. So you will need to put up plastic drop cloths around the sink making a small room. You will also need to wear a painter's mask. Trust me I didn't on my first project, and was very sorry I didn't. You also have to have the place well ventilated. When painting plan on going in, and out of the plastic room multiple times. Where old clothes with long sleeves, and a shower cap would be a good idea too. I'm not trying to scare you away from painting you sink. I just want you to know everything that is involved. I'm NOT a professional, but I have painted my fridge and bathtub. I was pleased with the results, but couldn't help thinking what did I get myself into.Hope this helps, and good luck.

can this product be used on a stovetop?

we used it to restore our range hood. it's held up great and was an easy product to apply. I think they make a high heat version of this if I remember correctly. I know I saw it at home depot.

Looks like factory finish

Really nice product. High gloss black paint that looks like factory appliance finish. To avoid bubbles when applying the spray paint try to do so in lower humidity. I have bubbles because it's too humid here. Still looks nice.
