Don't see the CE symbol, each character has writing on the back of the head but it is such small print, I certainly can't read it and have never even noticed it until I just looked!

the description shows that "2 AAA batteries required". is this correct ? what would need batteries ?

None of them need batteries... they're all about the length of a aaa, though.
