No, it’s imported from Italy, according to the bottle I just received.

I heard that the fragrance is much milder. Is this, so called original, actually original, or is it just typical marketing bunk?

I wouldn't say it's "milder." To me it is mellower. But it also seems to be longer lasting. I can still notice the fragrance at the end of the day. There is a difference between the two Old Spice aftershaves. Having used the off the shelf one for years, I now prefer the "Original."

I see mixed reviews as to whether this smells like the original of 40 or 50 years ago. which is closest the india or italy version? thanks

The Italian "Original" version in glass bottles is identical to the scent you remember (although not as overwhelmingly strong, as public tastes about the potency of such things has gratefully changed). The "Classic" versions formula was changed to accommodate the plastic bottles and, quite honestly, smells like something that should come in a plastic bottle.

After a fair amount of detective work I found this. I first used it in the 60's as it belonged to my grandfather. This is the real scent, no it is not watered down. I have all of my faculties and I am certain this is the scent of the original. There is a mine field of other choices that are not the real original Old Spice even though they claim to be. Do not buy anything that calls itself Classic. That is terrible. So glad I found this from this seller, Wiki Deals, through Amazon.
