## Description

desertcart.com : Java Planet Organic Mold Free, Guatemalan Coffee Beans, Medium Roast 32oz : Grocery & Gourmet Food

Review: Good coffee! - This coffee was very tasty. I like the fact that it is single source, mold & pesticide free, and organic. It is a quality product and I enjoyed the taste very much. It was smooth, not bitter, easy on my stomach, didn't make me jittery, and priced pretty much the same as other similar brands. I make my coffee into a liquid concentrate and I will purchase this one again.
Review: Won by popular vote in this house! - Unlike other countries, America allows even the poorest, moldiest coffee's into this country. Most have no idea and buy the lowest bidder even if they did. I drink coffee daily so I can't ignore moldy caffeine. It is sad that those of us who want low acid low mold have to pay more for the companies stuck with the burden of proof. High quality should be a must for every stores shelves. This company offers a low acid no mold, organic coffee brand, and compared to other brands stuck with the burden of proof, there is very little transparency with this specific coffee brand as far as testing. Even through GPT, they have little transparency and I am not aware of any "third party testing". After all we dont want "in house" testing, cheating is already easy enough with third party lab testing. I am not aware of any way on how to check whether each batch is tested, or how often batches are tested. "No mold" is important to me -and- to the people I help. Coffee is like any and all oils in this country, most especially essential oils, there are big brand names that lie about what is in their bottles even though they use lot numbers and test, you are not guarenteed to get what you believe you have paid for. That said: This coffee appears to be very light when freshly perked, dripped, or pressed when first poured no matter how fine I grind it to. Its color is light, and "see through" and as Doc put it, like a Brazillian tea. More isn't better though, and not the answer, in my opinion more would be wasting this coffee. This coffee has a mild taste of chocolate and plenty of caffeine for this house. It is a very pleasant coffee that has not caused any negative issues other brands have caused. I have tried several other organic coffee's that were bitter, thick and acidic. I have tried other low acid, no/low mold, organic brands that are truely and seriously transparent but were more flowery flavored than chocolate which I do not care for, nor the rest of this adult home. I admit I was so torn. Pay a little more for flowery transparent goodness, or pay a little less for a light milk chocolate non transparent coffee. The vote for now was unanimous, so I reodered this volcanic (high mineral) brand. The higher the "true" brix, the higher the mineral, the higher the mineral the less likely of contaminates. Most people that understand true health understands at least that. It is just the cycle of life. Even insects leave high frequency high mineral plants alone and that is a true story. They leave the strong to survive. So, thank you to the growers and desertcart, Java Planet and anyone affiliated, for this very smooth option. Well done.

- Our Second Most Popular Low Acid Coffee! This single-origin Guatemala coffee is grown in the Huehuetenango region. It is shade-grown under guava, plantain, and banana trees which give the coffee it's fruit undertones along with the caramel and chocolate notes. - No Pesticides, Mold or Heavy Metals! We use only 100% organic specialty grade arabica coffee beans that are independently tested for mold & heavy metals. In drinking our coffee you will only absorb beneficial antioxidants naturally found in coffee grown at high altitudes.
- Peace of Mind! Not only is this coffee certified Organic, it is also Smithsonian Bird Friendly certified, rewarding farmers for their sustainable practices.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are you certified bird friendly?**
A: Yes our Guatemalan is certified Bird Friendly! Java Planet is now approved as an authorized Bird Friendly certified roaster!

**Q: Do you test for mold toxins?**
A: Hello. While we do not test for toxins in our coffee, most of our coffee beans are wet processed which would eliminate all but a small amount of mycotoxins, if they were present. Roasting would further reduce any mycotoxins present. In addition, the quality of green coffee beans is rated according to a grading system. Having molds or mycotoxins significantly lowers the score... and if they exceed a certain level, the crops will be discarded. All of our coffees are Specialty Grade A coffee, the highest grade coffee beans produced, further eliminating the possibility of mycotoxins in our coffee. These is an interesting article about mycotoxins that you might be interested in reading. It shows that mycotoxins are in many of the foods and even the water we drink so it is almost impossible not to consume any. https://authoritynutrition.com/the-mycotoxins-in-coffee-myth/. I hope this helps. Best, Jennifer at Java Planet

**Q: Which non or low acid coffee has rated best taste?**
A: The Colombian Roast is a nice, rich full flavored coffee that is not harsh on the taste buds or the tummy. I suffer from stout stomach issues so I am careful of the brands of coffee I use. Java Planet's Coffees are coffees I don't want to be without, because of the ease on my tummy and also the taste. I would caution anyone; coffee is such an individual thing. What is great to one person may not be to another. I can sing the praises of Java Planet all day, but there will be people out there who think its too weak, or isn't flavorful enough, etc. For a low acidic coffee, organic, Fair Trade and Bird Sanctuary Friendly, you absolutely cannot go wrong giving this one a try. Happy Sipping!

**Q: Do you source through direct trade? What's the travel time from harvest to retail? Also, are the beans hand harvested or machine harvested?**
A: From the moment the cherry is harvested to the time the coffee reaches us the time period is roughly 4 months. The first 3 months are taken up with harvesting, drying, resting time, dry milling and voyage from origin to USA. Coffee in Guatemala is handpicked. We do not source through Direct Trade currently.
