All the Single Ladies: A Novel Review: Dottie Frank does it again! - Another great read by one of my favorite authors Review: Enjoyable read! - Enjoyed this book so much. I only gave it a 4 star rating because she used the F word in it and that was just not necessary. Why does every writer these days have to use the F word to make a point? It is ridiculous and, makes the writer appear to be so unimaginative and simple. There are so many beautiful words in the english language that can be used to emphasize a point. Anyhow, the story was sweet and tender. I loved her sensitivity to elderly people. That meant so much to me, since I have aging parents. And, it was just a fun read, with all of the "ladies" finding someone to love. Great ending!

I love love love this book!
As a southern girl, I get all the phrases and use of language these girls use. They are so much fun I laughed out loud at how they talk to each other. Very entertaining read!

Southern joy
A fun read! A bit over the top sometimes in the character "saint like qualities" of "the men" as they fit into their women's lives but the women characters were perfectly real and fabulous! Southern culture steeped in diplomatic manners and etiquette seemed an appropriate contrast to the ethical dilemmas brought up in the story about love, sustainability, marijuana , marriage, and more. Overall a delightful read that makes you sad the story ends.

True Friends in the Low Country
I love Dorthea Benton Frank and buy every book she writes. The title on this one just didn't grab me so I took my time to get to it. I should have known that was a big mistake! I opened up and started reading and within the first chapter I was again hooked on the story line. All the characters and how they played a part in the story. It was like opening up a story of friends and what happens when something happens to one of them and how the friends pull together for support. You will love Ms. Trudie!

An entertaining mystery!
Ms. Frank has given us s wonderfully magic story that incorporates s very unusual thief and a mystery surrounding her with unusual love stories that have st their heart a wise, ninety-seven -year-old woman and three middle-aged single women. Using a fabled thirty is even questionnaire, they meet three very nice men who buy into the mystery. You will enjoy the lovely descriptions of the South Carolina lows country as well. The book is very well-written with both romance and mystery. Oh, be sure to watch out for Pickle!

Summer is definitely here when Dorothea Benton Frank publishes a new novel. These ladies work hard and enjoy the good things that come to them. They just do with a great sense of humour.

Don't get me wrong: I LOVE Dorothea Benton Frank! I own almost all of her books and have a few favourites that I read and re-read regularly. "All the Single Ladies" however is NOT going to be one of those as it is completely lacking alround. It meanders along very predictably, doing no harm but enticing no passion or involvment with either the story or characters at all either. The 'Ladies' are all very bland and very stereotypical, and none of them draws me in or really arouses my interest. Miss Dorothea can create wonderful characters one cares deeply about, such as Grace, heroine of that name in my favourite "Full of Grace"; so I wonder what went wrong here... The story bumps along without much of a plot, apart from the rather stilted and constructed mystery of 'Wendy, The Thief' - and by golly is it repetitive in it's descriptions and subject matters! I think that might have been meant to create atmosphere, but it just doesn't and makes the whole story feel even more flat and long-winded. The whole thing feels like Miss Benton-Frank was obliged to churn out another novel for her publishers and had to meet a deadline. - So sorry to give this only one star, but it really isn't up to what this author is capable of at her best form. If you want to read something truely wonderful by her, choose "Full of Grace", "Shem Creek" or the brilliant, fresh and original "Folly Beach". These will not disappoint.
