Culligan FM-15RA Replacement Filter Cartridge for Faucet Mount Filter FM-15A, White Finish

While it's been mentioned before that this filter meets or exceeds the filtering quality of Brita, I think it needs to be mentioned again just how amazing this product is. It is far superior in design from the Brita. Some background: I drink a lot of water; only water and green tea, frankly. I home-brew gallons of green tea a month, made with filtered faucet water, storing it in reusable glass bottles for personal use. I live in the desert where calcium and mineral deposits in the water are common and obvious if not filtered out. When the water is not filtered, it's obvious. I first used Brita's disposable faucet filters and liked those pretty well, and then when that was discontinued, I went to Brita's other faucet filters (On-Tap, 42633, FF something or other). While the water with Brita was good, the device was poorly made, and I was changing filters quite often. Everything was plastic, even the attachment to the faucet was plastic. And while it had an indicator light to let me know when I "needed" to change the filter, that burned out/stopped working after about six months, leaving me to rely on what is commonly referred to as "taste buds", which to the dismay of the doltish, does not come with an indicator light. (Who needs an indicator light to tell them there's a difference in the way their water tastes?) It bears repeating that both Brita and this Culligan filter receive high praise (top marks) from Consumer's Reports for filtering quality. But here's the selling point: Culligan is significantly cheaper and better made. Culligan's filters are each good for 200 gallons, Brita's filters are good for 100 gallons. Price one Culligan filter compared to two of the Brita and you'll see how much cheaper Culligan is. Plus, Culligan's faucet attachment is metal (stainless steel?), instead of cheap Brita plastic. (I've used mine on two different faucets, one with internal threads and one with external, the product comes with the attachments necessary to make it fit any faucet). And, to reiterate, Culligan's water tastes just as good (if not better) and filters just as effectively (if not more so) than Brita. PLUS, you can sign up for a subscription on these filters and get an additional 15% off, have them shipped to your door exactly when you need a new one and be done with it. If ever there were one, this is truly a no-brainer. Culligan is the hands-down winner. Pur need not even apply, Brita: go back to the drawing board. I love my water and Culligan is for real.

Quick, accurate transaction at a very nice price. Couldn't ask for better! Have had the Culligan filter for about three years now with zero problems. Have been very satisfied with the device. Well-made of durable materials (unlike what I read of the "leading" brand, easy to change cartridge in seconds without tools. Have it installed in our apartment in Europe, in an old building with lead pipes. Water qualitity and taste is noticeably improved and, since it eliminates lead, saves us a fortune in bottled water costs. A shame, though, that it is not available on Amazon.uk or .fr. Though purhcased here, this brand is not well supported locally (Monte Carlo) and shipping costs of replacement cartridges from 'States is prohibitive. Have to purchase in advance and bring when we come. Still, highly recommended product!

It does a good job of purifying the tap water. I have had this filter unit for about 6 months, and I used two filter cartridges during this time period. It seems to last me about 3 months per filter cartridge. The price for the cartridges seems to be a bit high. I would prefer to be able to buy 2 to 4 cartridges in a package, at a lower price than the $12 I paid for a single cartridge. I have had one problem with this unit, during the 6 months that I have owned it. The problem occurred about 10 weeks after I started using it. For some strange reason, the normal flow rate of the cartridge was reduced to a drip-drip-drip, so that filling a 1-quart bottle took more than 5 minutes, instead of the normal one minute or so. After I replaced the filter cartridge, the problem disappeared. My best guess is that some unusual particulate matter may have gotten into the water supply, and it may have clogged the filter. I am happy to say that this problem has not repeated itself with the second cartridge that I am still using. Otherwise, the unit is easy to use. You just pull the little valve at the side of the unit, turn the tap valve all the way on, put a bottle under the unit, and wait until the bottle fills. When you are finished filtering water, you just turn off the tap valve, and the little valve at the side of the unit automatically snaps back to its "off" position. The next time you turn on your cold water, it bypasses the filter, and water flows straight through the tap at the normal rate, for washing dishes, or whatever you want to use it for.

The Brita faucet filter does an excellent job of filtering out impurities from tap water -- that is, when it manages to stay attached to the faucet. However, in my experience with it (two years and two different models), a tremendous amount of my valuable time was wasted trying to reattach the filter after it would repeatedly fall off. Although I have no direct experience with the Pur faucet filter, my understanding (drawn from other reviews) is that it suffers from the same problem. Happily, after purchasing the CULLIGAN Faucet Filter several months ago, I can now report with confidence that it is plagued by no such similar defect. In other words, once attached, it remains firmly in place, and works every bit as effectively as rival brands. So for anyone who has tried those other brands and encountered endless frustration in endeavoring to keep them attached to the faucet, my advice is: Don't give up just yet! Try the Culligan model. It's solidly built, competitively priced, and replacement cartridges are readily available from Amazon. For me, at least, the Culligan at last put an end to the gratuitous, time-wasting burden of having to continually reattach a recalcitrant water filter.

We went through hell with the Pur System--they kept changing their designs, and for the worse. They kept leaking, breaking, and spraying water all over the place after just a month of use. We had purchased a new Pur System after an old one failed, and the weight of it on the faucet kept the washers constantly warping. Pur kept sending us new connection sets, but they would all give way after just a month. We finally gave up completely on Pur after using up all our replacement filters and switched to Culligan. This system is much simpler and lighter than a Pur System--there is no strain on your faucet. The Culligan system doesn't have all the bells and whistles that Pur had, but I don't miss them at all (there is no automatic light that tells you to change the filter--you have to keep track yourself). I don't mind that--the filters last longer than Pur (two months), and they do as good a job as any other filter we've tried (water tastes great). I just bought a new Culligan system and filters--the old one was still working, but I did notice that the automatic shut-off stopped working (we had to press it in ourselves to switch back to regular tap water. I still am pleased since it lasted over a year without fail--and they are much cheaper than any other filter system we’ve used.

Most good quality water filters work the same way...usually containes a solid activated carbon block (very important) that removes chemicals and impurities through adsorbtion (not absorption!!). Some have different stages that first filter out large particles but they always have a main filter made of a solid carbon block that removes a wide range of chemicals. This Culligan filter performs just as good as most other major brand filters (Pur/Brita) but one thing that made me purchase this rather than anything else is the fact that the output of the filter (where the water come out) is part of the filter and not part of the housing. Why is this important? The reason is that previously with other water filters that have the output on the filter housing, buildup of calcium deposits and sometimes mold/mildew would form on the filter housing where the water would come out. And since the majority of the time most people don't check that or clean it...the water can get "recontaminated" especially after a few months of use. With the Culligan filter, you don't have to worry about that since the output is part of the filter and when you change the filter out, you will always get clean water. Overall, this is one of the best filters you can buy at a reasonable price point. With Amazon's subscribe and save, it makes it even more a good value. Highly recommended!!

We've been using these water filters for some time. Reading recent reviews here, I wondered how well it filters my water. It does flow pretty fast (suggesting that maybe the water flows around the filter and not through it). Well, I just did a little test. I filled two glasses, one after the other, one from the unfiltered tap, and one through this filter. The results: it actually took about twice as long to fill the glass using the filter than directly from the tap. (This suggests that the water flow is being slowed because it's being pushed through the filter.) But the real clincher was taste. I tried my unfiltered tap water for the first time in a long time just now, and it has a little bit of a weird taste. It's not horrible, but I wouldn't want to drink it every day. The filtered water does not have this weird taste. It always tastes like fresh clean water. This is in no way a scientific test but it seems to me that this filter is doing a pretty good job filtering my water--at least getting rid of the weird taste of my water. I checked this product out on a well-known independent consumer subscription website and this system leads the pack for this type of water filtration system. I do recommend making sure it says, "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" for this product, just to be safe.

okay I don't usually leave reviews but for this filtering system i felt that i had to, to help inform the public, we run off a spring system and get alot of sediment in our water. i bought the culligan last December, initially it was great, but because of the sediment in our water the filters work for maybe a grand total of two five gallon fill-ups, then the already marginal water flow that comes from the filter side degrades to nothing more than a drip. So i'd take it outside and blow it out with the air compressor since my main concern is the sediment. after doing that several times i can get a five gallon jug to be filled up. a little time consuming and not cost effective for me. i still rated it four stars though because the water tastes great, and even after blowing it out the water filter still produces sediment free. so is it a good system? absolutely without a doubt, but its not a good system for me or anyone else who deals with sediment on a regular basis, rather than installing an under the sink type system i'm going to look into a different faucet system like the omni F1 system. hopefully I get a longer filter life and it proves to be a bit more cost effective.

My primary point of comparison for faucet water filters are one's from Brita which are poorly constructed and universally break after only a couple months. So, I Invested a little more upfront with the Culligan, and couldn't be happier with the results. This review considers the entire faucet system and not just the replacement filters. Pros/Cons/Notes: * The non-filter faucet spout is made of steel as opposed to plastic. * The unit automatically returns to non-filter mode once the water stops. * It legitimately lasts 2+ months and while there's no usage indicator, it is clear when a replacement is need based on water flow. * NSF certified and removes more impurities than pitcher-based systems; in particular, lead. * Unlike other reviewers, I have experienced no issues unscrewing and installing the filter. * Do not purchase at $30 - it regularly sells for $19-25 (plus an additional 15% off with of subscribe and save). Highly recommended.
