Door Hinge Security Pins / Screws / Stud, 3-Pack Kit

The hinge pins are fantastic and work great. There were minor modifications needed to the hinges mostly due to my initial failure of understanding how the pins were to be installed. Once I realized what I did wrong, the others went in easily! The screws are the perfect size and gave me no trouble to install, good quality material of the screws and durable for sure.

Great pins, do as expected. Pack of 3 should fit a single door - 1 per hinge. Look at your hinges - are they mirror image? IE top left screw is out, top right screw is out. Good, no extra work. If not mirror image ie top left screw out, top right screw in - you'll have extra work. It can be done, but can be tough. Does compromise the integrity of the hinge if you must drill an extra hole and they're hard to line up perfectly

These little guys do what I wanted them to do. I have a beach house that rents weekly and I have a closet that contains my possessions when I use the house. The hinge pins are on the outside of the door so a dishonest renter could remove the pins and my stuff. I wouldn’t know who since I don’t see the house all season. I read the reviews before ordering and was prepared for the issues of stripped screwdriver slots and hard to insert. The problem appears to be the threads for a steel door. They are a larger diameter than the wood screw threads. So #1 drill for the wood threads then drill a slightly large bit just 1/4” to allow for the bolt threads #2 drill a much larger hole on the opposite side for the protrusion to enter. The sw ingot the door requires a little estate room for the stub to align with the opposite entry hole. Installation was smooth with these added adaptations.

I really like these pins. They may seem a little expensive for what they are, but everyone will have to judge that for themselves. The instructions were very well written I think. There are two possibilities for installation. If your hinges have holes that line up on the two leaves then installation should be very simple. If the holes don't line up, then you have to remove the hinges and drill a new hole in one of the leaves for the pin to go through. This may or may not be difficult depending on your tools and skills. Mine worked great on two hinges, but on one hinge I drilled my hole off a little bit and it caused quite a bit of tweaking to be required. I definitely recommend the product. If you have exterior hinge pins, this is the only thing keeping someone from simply popping your door right off the hinges.

This product is easy to install as long as your hinges have screw holes that line up exactly between plates. If your hinges do not have the screw holes line up AND you do not have access to a drill press, then I suggest that you buy new hinges that do have the screw holes line up. Either way, I suggest the use of a step drill for the female side of the installation, as the diameter of the pins are a bit much and the hinge might need a slight modification in-situ. These pins, combined with a latch guard, make it incredibly difficult to remove an exterior, outswing door by force. This is a very simple peace of mind that will make it easier for a thief to mouse-hole rather than pop the hinges or attempt to use pry bars.

Installation is not as simple if the holes on the 2 sides of the hinge aren’t mirror images of each other. Mine are not so drilling through the metal hinge on one side to make that mirror image hole is necessary. That should be explicitly stated.

I did have to enlarge the screw hole, very slight, on the other side of the hinge in order for the pin to seat smoothly when the door shuts without rubbing as it enters the opposing hole on the hinge. Works great!!! Highly recommend to increase the security of your door!!!

I never leave one star reviews but I have to make an exception. The pin itself is structurally sound. Heavy with decent threads. But when you take out a screw from the hinge and bore the opposite side the door won’t close because the pin protrudes too far. Instructions say that if that happens you should ream your hinge or make new holes! Why not sell a kit with a compatible replacement hinge!! Try to return the thing.! The company wants as much postage as it cost!!
