I read some comments / questions which are saying it won’t fit to a 16’’ standard studs, is that true?

That is not true. Look at the 3 slots on the cross bar. Gives great latitude in distance between mount screws. Works fine on 16 or 24 inch centers.

Does your unit sit level on this bracket? I just got mine and they don't open far enough for the unit to sit level. It will be leaning towards th wall

of course it leans slightly towards the wall. the compressor will have little to no chance of sliding off during installation or removal for servicing.

What size drill bit is needed for the wall anchors and bolts? This will be in a brick wall

It requires a 12 mm bit. Good luck finding one. 7/6" is to small (anchor gets crushed) and 1/2" is too large (anchors don't grip). Get the unit without anchors or buy another brand.
