will this light work with chuggington wooden trains?

I would think so ! It is stand alone and lights when button is pushed !

how tall does it stand? It says 6" in the description. I didn't think that could be right, that would be much too huge for the wooden trains.

I didn't actually measure it but it looked 6 inches and it is hefty (compared to the set of much littler crossing guards I also bought made by same company, I think)

Can this be used on its own? Does it stand up sturdily or topple over easily. Can it be used without the train set?

It can definitely be used without the train set. I think it stands up reasonably well.

Why does this break so quickly? Got one in May; 3 weeks later button stopped working. Amazon replaced; 5 weeks later same issue

My son of 6 has 2 of these and never has had ANY issue with them. They have worked out great.

Die Ampel von „BRIO“ ist die erste, mit der ich vollumfänglich zufrieden bin. Aktiviert wird die Schaltung durch einen roten Knopf oben. Sie durchläuft alle Phasen automatisch und schaltet sich am Ende aus. Bei erneuter Aktivierung beginnt sie „entgegengesetzt“. So steht es auch transparent in der Beschreibung. Die Länge der Ampelphasen empfinde ich als angemessen. Gelb ist etwas kürzer gehalten, so kennen wir es ja auch aus dem deutschen Straßenverkehr. Die Ampel steht -auch auf einem Spielteppich- sicher und macht keinen „billigen“ Eindruck. Langlebigkeit, auch in puncto Batterien, wird sich zeigen - bisher sehe ich dem aber positiv entgegen. Ich gehe davon aus, dass auch hier der Name „BRIO“ seiner Qualität gerecht wird. 😉 Alles in allem ein zufriedenstellendes Produkt, das zum Preis von knapp 10,00€ von mir die volle Anzahl an ⭐️ bekommt.

The quality of this item is par none. I searched so long for a suitable traffic signal for my child (7 year old with autism) and finally stumbled upon This and was sold instantly- and on sale (at the time of purchase 5/2020) I couldn’t pass it up- and I am definitely pleased with the product. It functions Just as described- no assembly- turn off function.. Perfect for road models & for play for older kids; wouldn’t recommend for young children for it will break if stepped on- but is sturdy enough to last with care.
