Well !...that's most of the house now networked using a couple of network switches ( or - 'splitters' ), carrying internet all around the place - 'hardwired' - ( that is - using CAT7 ( category 7 ) ethernet cables instead of a Wi-Fi signal ) - to the kids' playstations, TV's, and PC's !! And this 'TP-Link TL-SG105-M2 Unmanaged 5-Port 2.5G Multi-Gigabit Network Switch' is part of a couple of network internet fiber 'splitters', including an 8 port one - that are making everything we use for entertainment in the house linked to the internet !! What's not to like ?!! - And it was on offer from Amazon compared to others of similar scope and capability - but so much cheaper than them !! The quality is good, we swear by TP-Link switches ! When they pack up - hopefully not for a long time - we'll just replace them with like for like ! - Simple ! We have used CAT7 cabling around the house though, we've 'future-proofed' using even faster ethernet when the time comes and the internet gets 'silly-fast' ! If you can afford it, try it ! Great signal from CAT7 ethernet cabling ( hardwiring ) around the home ! And this switch is just right for our ethernet bandwidth ! ( That's why we use 2.5 Gigabit TP-Link switches, our bandwidth from our internet provider is over 2 Gigabits. The switch helps in sharing enough of the ethernet/internet 2 Gigabit bandwidth signal between watching internet TV and when the kids are using the PC or playing games on their XBOX or PS5 at the same time ! I hope you understood that. ) It's not that hard to understand, just go to Youtube or something, and learn how to use a switch - what size bandwidth switch you might need if you do need one, and how to install it ! ( If I can do it - believe me - you can too !! What a terrific piece of kit this is, it works a treat. Chuffed yes. Why? because l was advised to get a ethernet splitter to plug in my 2 desktop computers, printer etc, so l bought a spitter thinking it was right! Not so, for my purposes l needed a ethernet switch splitter, believe me there is a difference, double check to make sure you get the right splitter for what you require to use it for.

I notice the speed increase.

Perfect. Does exactly what I wanted with no setup needed other than plugging in a cable.

Only a few days in, but all good so far ... stable and no issues.

Needed to upgrade my setup with 2.5gb ports after internet speed increase to 2.5gb, this was one of the cheaper switches (comes in a metal case) without being managed and having to be tied into an ecosystem, worked straight away and haven't had any problems in the last 6 months of ownership.

Upgraded to 2.5gbps as my motherboard has an Intel killer 2.5gbps Ethernet port, and my NAS has a 10gbps port. Backups to the NAS are now much snappier. Completely plug and play and connects without any issue to the existing gigabit Ethernet network. It just works. What more is there to say?
