The last product I used burned my scalp so bad that I considered cutting my hair short. How much does this product really burn on a scale of 1-10?

This relaxer was only mildly stingy and that’s because I left it on longer than the time the package says to leave it on. That being said, I ALWAYS take precautions whenever I use relaxer. If you got those terrible scalp burns then you either didn’t mix it thoroughly, left it on too long, or didn’t properly prepare your scalp beforehand. Here’s just a few tips to help you to avoid those issues. First, if you have a sensitive scalp (like me) choose a mild relaxer such as children’s relaxer or a relaxer that specifically says for sensitive scalps. Second, for at least 24 hours before you relax, DO NOT allow your scalp to get wet. Wear a shower cap, no sweating, no shampooing, nothing. Next, don’t over manipulate your hair 24 hours before you relax. That means rough combing/brushing, hair products, etc. Lastly, and this is important, coat your hairline and scalp with Vaseline/petroleum jelly. This last tip alone has saved my scalp from burns and irritation. I really hope this helps. I’ve had my share of scalp burns so I know what you’re going through. It will get better. Happy relaxing!

I’m not sure but I think if left unmixed in the package then it will last for six. If mixed then you need to use it immediately.
