Excellent flashlight at a competitive price
I've used the previous model, the "Slyde King" I believe it was called, for years now. Have kept it in my truck, with tools, used it while working under a vehicle, in a commercial ceiling plenum, while working inside a computer case, or just on a walk... and it's always been better than any other light in every single instance, and it was a fraction of the lumens of this new one. There are flashlights, like the cheap crap that you'll find on the shelf at the dollar store or even Home Depot / Lowes or Walmart and the like... then there are FLASHLIGHTS. Thing is though, most of the latter find themselves at insane price points that are only justifiable to the rich, foolish, and/or dumb. I know mechanics that have bought "Snap On" dealer lights who make payments of $100, for months on end... for lights that aren't even as good as this one. . . The original model I purchased probably 3-4 years back, have used extensively, and only now is the micro usb port failing on me. I do feel that it is unjustifiable that it is, as I've taken care of the light itself and the port specifically. BUT, it is a micro usb port after all, and those pieces of crap do tend to fail. That said, this new one... Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo is it nice. Exponentially brighter, the OG was 500 Lumen.... this one is freaking 2000. I mean, obviously... they put it in the name this time it's such a big freaking deal. The work light is just as good, retaining the same panel and features. Speaking of, the "features", more or less the one... it carries over to all lights. So, you hold the PWR button, and the lamps will dim down then back up to whatever level you desire. Actually, the RED SOS flasher changed patterns to 3 blips, alternating rather than just the on off flash from before. Despite never needing to use the SOS flasher, it does stand to reason that this would be more eye catching. It's also IP 67 this time around, not even sure if it was last time... Just a great improvement for a marginal increase in cost, if one at all... Depends what you got the last one for, as you can still buy it on Amazon as well, and for the same cost as this more or less. Not sure why anyone would at this point, but you can. I know I got mine at a brick and mortar store those years ago for around $35 I think. So this ones price point makes sense to me... coming in as the new model with obvious improvements. Really, everyone should have a light like this in their car at all times. You never have to worry about batteries going dead, as it can always be charged back up. (that said, you should obviously keep it charged) It's available as a flasher if you need help... it's the brightest most solid light you'd ever hope to use if you need to work on something, or go on an emergency trip into some dark areas. It can easily mount to anything magnetic, using either its directional beam or wide area work light to illuminate any work area. Just easily beats out any conventional regular flashlight by miles.

VERY Bright Flashlight - Dual Lighting is Great Feature - Standard USB-C Is Handy
Overall this is a great flashlight. It's VERY bright, maybe even too bright for indoor use or close distances but the brightness is adjustable and it remembers the setting. I like the standard USB-C charging, but charging is on the slower side taking several hours to fully charge. I don't expect any need to replace the battery any time soon, which is good because it seems to be a VERY oddball battery and I could only find one vendor carrying that style online. But that is offset by the unique cob light in the sliding handle - combined with the strong magnet at the end it turns into a worklight with a quick pull. Battery life seems reasonable - in fairness I haven't needed to use it for hours on end and have not run out of charge yet. It does have a few quirks - the variable brightness is great and you can have it turn on to that preset by double-clicking the power button. A regular single click turns it on to full brightness, which as I mentioned is just crazy bright. I wish it defaulted to the preset brightness and took a double-click to go to full if you wanted. It also seems to take longer to charge than I expected. I keep this as more of an emergency flashlight and for that purpose it works very well. It's very well built and as a result a bit on the heavy side, so I'm not sure I would use it as a daily carry. But I have full confidence it will be working when I need it, so that has value to me.

Omg that's bright
This is one of those items, once you buy one, you're gonna want more. Seriously, I've purchased this item at least 5x and may buy more. It's extremely well-made, metal shell, does not seem easily breakable. They recharge quickly and easily, they're almost as bright as the sun (literally - it looks like daylight at night). The directed beam will cover nearly an acre. The recharge port is hidden behind a water-resistant plug and it's USB-C. The magnet bottom will hold this thing at a 90 degree angle (I stuck it to my fridge door for laughs), or it'll stick easily and securely to the underside of your car hood (assuming the hood is metal). The beam can be adjusted to wide or narrow with only minimal brightness loss the wider it goes. But if you want to see EVERYTHING in the engine (or room) at once, pull it apart and the whole side becomes this massive light. If you click the power button when it's open, you get solid red light, click it again, you get red emergency beacon. I cannot rave about this thing enough. I have one in each car, and one by my back door. You'll love this light, well worth the price.

Top-quality multi-purpose light with amazing versatility
I recently purchased a second Slyde King 2k, and it is definitely one of, if not the best flashlight I've ever owned. It's puts out a true 2000 lumens of light, which is more than enough for anyone's day-to-day practical needs. The focus from wide but well-defined flood, to precise and focused spot light is impressive. Then throw in the awesome 500 lumen work light feature, and you have one incredibly versatile light. The slide feature for the work light is smooth, with just the right amount of tension so that it will never accidentally slide out and activate. And I love the red light function. It's perfect for times when you want to preserve your night vision, like getting around the campsite or tent when you're camping. I've used the flashing red light feature several times in place of flares when putting snow chains on in Washington's mountain passes, which is one of the main reasons I purchased the second one - to have both a safety/warning light and magnetic work light (which attaches perfectly inside the wheel well of my car), making putting the chains on at night so safe and easy. I purchased my first Slyde King about 2 years ago, and have used it almost daily at work where i frequently need to access a very busy truck/trailer yard at night, with lots of big rigs constantly moving about. There's defintely no chance that the truck drivers won't see me out there. After two years of continual use, the battery is showing no signs of losing potency. Overall, the Slyde King 2000 is a versatile, top-quality multi-purpose light at a bargain basement price, and I highly recommend it.

Works, but not for as long as I was under the impression of.
I just got this slyde king 2k last week after seeing a guy at work light up the parking lot with one, I asked him and he said he hadn't charged his in 2 weeks (maybe, after using it a bit, he doesn't use it alot?) So I went on here and bought one, I think I've owned it for 6 days, and tonight was the second time it died on me so I have to change it again. Pros: bright, wide view of light, seems sturdy, ehh magnetic base. Cons: doesn't last long per charge, magnetic base isn't too strong (just barely can hold itself hirizontal), brightness doesn't stay at the setting last turned off at (to try and conserve battery life) Possible cons: body is round, no flat spots so it won't roll away when set down on its side. Maybe the wriststrap mount will do that job, haven't tested that theory yet. I'm kinda partial to backside power buttons (where the magnetic base is) so that takes some getting use to the fact that this is on the side in the "other conventional" spot. Ideas: 1. I too would be interested in some kind of stand/base that can wirelessly charge/maintain the battery when not in use. However make sure it is 12v powerable and able to somehow tuck away in a semi truck cab maybe at the base of the drivers seat. 2. Replaceable rear cap (magnetic tip) to accommodate the lack of flat spot issue, if it does end up being one. 3. More charge status options than just full or 25%. 4. External battery charger for spare batteries (I haven't looked into this yet myself, but the reviews I'd read sounds like a good idea.

Does NOT use standard 18650 batteries!
I’m giving this flashlight 1 star solely because the ad description should CLEARLY communicate that it uses a PROPRIETARY 18650 SIZED battery. 1 star will hopefully help my review get noticed by prospective buyers, saving them the hassle I went through. It is the same size format as 1860, but it is proprietary. On the negative end it has 2 contact rings. Think of a bullseye. There is a center contact disc that is surrounded by a 2nd contact ring. The positive end of the battery is similar to a regular raised button, being a single contact. I should have taken a picture but didn’t. The battery goes in backward compared to what you’re used to with the + button top against the spring of the removable battery compartment cap. (I wasn’t paying attention when I removed the battery to remove the small plastic shipping disc that prevents battery contact. I messed with reinstalling the battery and read the instructions for maybe 20 minutes until I realized the battery ’goes in backwards’. 🙄 Another fail IMO. This should be marked!) IF you can get a good look down inside you will see 3 small button contacts that touch the inserted - end. 1 for the center disc contact and 2 for the outer ring contact. After I figured out that the battery goes in backwards, the battery seemed pretty nice! I wanted to keep it. But I was specifically looking for a hot swappable 18650 flashlight for my large collection of 18650 batteries. I use my flashlights on the brightest mode while working, and swap in a new fully charged battery when necessary so I can keep working. I can’t afford to wait for it to recharge. That’s why I need an 18650 flashlight and why THIS flashlight won’t work for me. Had it been clearly stated that it used a proprietary battery and won’t work with any other 18650 batteries I would NOT have purchased it. This is a major oversight. Although it doesn’t state anywhere that it is compatible, it can be inferred. Also, all the incorrect reviews stating it uses an 18650 battery lead you to the WRONG conclusion. I will go back through and angrily ’thumb down’ those reviews…. If you don’t need 18650 battery compatibility then this would probably be a great flashlight for you.

Great flashlight.
Great flashlight, Bright, adjustable beam. This version is better than the older model I have had for years. The sliding case reveals a work light with multiple functions. The magnet in the base is strong enough to hold the flashlight in place. You won't be sorry if you buy this flashlight.

How easy this flashlight slides open is adjustable
Great all in one light, this is my second one, my first was the earlier version, many people have complained about how easy the light slides open, mine came that way but upon taking it apart realized the tightness is adjustable, slyde the light to reveal the work light, the metal piece that is right on top of the rubber grip is threaded and will tighten or loosen how easy it slydes open, only thing I don’t like about this light is the special battery that is required, but there is a battery modification to get around this!

Great product
When I received this the shrink wrap was half removed and the charging cable was missing. It was not a brand new product. I tried charging it with my iPad cable and it wasn’t charging. Was about to return it but thought to try a different cable and it is now charging. Phew. A very powerful torch with lots of features and options at an excellent price. I’ve got my fingers crossed that there’s nothing actually wrong with the this particular unit. Would highly recommend it.
