Why did you pick this product vs others?: Works great on my Husqvarna riding lawn mower with 21hp Kohler engine. Easy installation and way cheaper than what the local places wanted to order an OEM one.

Perfect fit and started my lawn tractor on first try. Great price compared to others. Can't give a rating on quality, above 3 stars, until I've used it at least a couple hundred times. If it fails in the next two years, I'll be back to let you know. I'm in Pacific Northwest, so only mow once/week during the mid-Spring to early Summer, then late Summer to mid-Autumn.

Broke thin plastic tab off, applied light amount lithium grease below and above pinion gear under the black cap with small screwdriver, wire wheeled the flywheel teeth and works perfect. Reason for the grease is these from Cub Cadet are dry and when hang up into the flywheel the very thin shaft bearings wear oblong and will lock up the motor on startups afterwards. Old motor good but could not find top bearing & cap and the original bearing would not press out. Saved the customer $40 with this one.

Bought this for my Cub Cadet XT1 and it fit perfectly. Now my mower starts with more gusto than ever before. The stock starter had a plastic ring gear, while the aftermarket uses metal.

Kohler courage 19hp in my lawn tractor was cranking very slow and would come to a dead stop on compression. After doing some simple checks I tried a new starter. This ended up being my issue, this starter cranks the motor over as fast as new. used it multiple times over a week and it stated perfectly every time. If your facing a similar issue of slow crank or not enough power to get past the compression when starting this would be a great first step for not too much cost involved!

Works as expected. 50% cheaper than from the local shop. On our 15hp kohler engine it seems the true problem is the "easy start" compression release system. It starts to fail when valves wear. I need to re-adjust valve lifter gaps. Otherwise none of the starter motors can start the engine when it has stopped on the compression cycle.

I spent hours of time messing with my tractor, figured it was the starter so I ordered this one. Threw it on and and with a little engine starter spray she fired up immediately.

The old motor had a dead spot then started heating up the cable then died. This bolted right in just in time for mowing season.
