Will this kit work with a 150 quart cooler going to be using it for large live bait. Worried it might be a bit small.

Yes and depending on if you use both pieces of the aerator. 1 piece is very strong

What batteries work good for this kit?

Any deep cycle battery will work fine. I use the same one as I use on my trolling motor and don't have any issues.
