## Description

CNC Spoilboard Surfacing Router Bit, 1/4" Shank 1" Cutting Diameter, Carbide Insert Slab Flattening Router Bits Planing Bit Wood Planer Bit Woodworking Tools by BINSTAK - desertcart.com

Review: Love it love it love it! - Works great for me! I only take 1mm passes, but I can do it at 300 ipm so I love it! I use it to do most of my initial milling because my jointer for up my chip barrel so quickly it makes everything take longer, so my cnc make small chips that take longer to fill instead of the big chips my spiral head joint leaves. So I use this bit A LOT! Mine is fast, balanced, and sharp, it also leaves a smooth finish. I wish I found it much earlier. I have an altmill with a spindle so idk if that makes a difference, but it's great!
Review: Great surfacing bit - As someone just getting into some wood working it can be overwhelming to think about the different tools and equipment you need to do things. I can't buy rough milled lumber and save money because I don't gave a planer. A good piece of advice is buy things like router bits as you need them and don't get the cheapest thing. This surfacing bit is large enough to cut down on time, well made to do a pretty clean job, and thoughtful enough to be able to rotate the cutting blades for extended life. My first few times using this have been excellent. It cuts clean, smooth and flat lines allowing me to get the job done that a planer and joiner could do. Yes, those other tools would be faster but since I already have a router, a simple sled allowed me to get 2 flat surfaces that needed nothing more than finish sanding. I've used this to reduce thickness of boards and take out some errant marks made from milling. Extra screws are nice especially because they're likely a specific size to hold the cutting blades. The 1/2" shank keeps everything secure and tends to heat up less than 1/4" This should be good for all wood types and I'm sure it will work for soft metals like aluminum or brass without destroying the blades. I am very happy with the purchase.

## Features

- 2-WING INSERT CNC ROUTER BIT: Shank: 1/4"; Cut Diameter: 1" ; Carbide Inserts: 12*12mm. 2-wing design, resulting in a more balanced tool while running.
- INDUSTRIAL GRADE CNC WOOD ROUTER BIT: Super-strength steel body with anti kickback design, 2 cutting blades.
- COST-EFFECTIVE INSERT BIT: The surfacing router bit utilizes 4-sided solid carbide inserts. All 4 edges of carbide inserts can be used, use a screwdriver to make other blade edge outside. Replace the carbide inserts when needed, instead of replacing the whole bit. Cost effective solution compared to brazed router bits and solid carbide spiral bits.
- This planer router bit is perfect for wood slabs flattening, resurface or plane the top surface of the spoilboard. Used on soft and hard woods, particle board, MDF, plywood compact panel, laminate, acrylic and etc.
- Use on CNC and other automatic routers as well as hand-held and table-mounted portable routers. Such as woodworking engraving machine, trimming machine, etc.

**Q: is there any manufacturer recommended speeds to use on a cnc?**
A: Short answer no. I would google about speeds and feeds. The spindle speed and the feed rate go hand and hand. It also controls chip load. The faster something spins the faster it will need to move while cutting. Most tools will only have a max rpm limit. This tool I would stay away from its cheap. The carbide quality is horrible. The insert pockets are sloppy.

**Q: How is the quality of this bit**
A: Really great quality! Great value for money

**Q: Anyone ever try using this like a drill bit into wood?...I go through 1" forsner bits like candy, and would love to be able to index the cutters**
A: I tried that on the CNC but didn't go very well. Whenever the bit is going just vertically into the the wood it burns it. I imagine it is because there is no angle on the inserts and it was made to cut from the sides only. For surfacing and milling it is amazing.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ it's ok, but maybe better options
*by B***B on September 10, 2026*

Bought the 1/2" shank 2" diam. 3 tooth bit (just because it seemed most reviews were of that one). Needed to flatten out a walnut end grain cutting board with a handheld router (Bosch 1617) and a janky router sled. Process: Made sure the sled was not warped at all, and was clamped securely. Shimmed the material to be flattened to be level as possible, and then shimmed it securely to the sleds perimiter (no wobbling, no sliding). Recommended speed for a 2" bit seems to be 12-16,000RPM, so I started it out at setting 2 (13,500), taking it slowly, removing only about 1/16". It really dragged, and the surface was fairly torn up. Bumped it up a couple times between the sides, and ended up getting best results at 4 (20,000 rpm), a bit higher than top recommendations, still keeping the cuts very shallow. The sled ended up being stable, and the bit worked fairly well. Note: I overlapped my sweeps by 3/4" inch or so. Doing it again, I think getting one with cutters on the top (bottom) as well as might be a better option, especially considering the additional cost is negligible. Or, maybe that 6 cutter head one would be better. If I had one of those woodworking channels, I'd do that comparison. As others have mentioned, I would have liked an additional 1/4" of shank. All in all, results were fair. Worth it for the amount of times I will use it. I would upgrade to one of the above mentioned bits if I were to continue to use a router sled for more than a few projects over time (and I would get something with rails and a dust collection system if I were doing larger projects).
