What is the actual dimension when rolled closed? The desc doesn't make sense. It says 14" wide when opened; but 6" when closed?

I have 2 tool rolls that I carry in a larger tool bag. One has a variety of screwdrivers and the other has various pliers. Unrolled the dimenstions are approximately 14.5" High x 26" Wide. The material is approximately 1/8" Thick. Without any tools in it this will roll up to about 2" Diameter x 14.5" high. With the tools that I have in each of mine they are about 6" in Diameter. Depending on the type and number of tools you put in one of these the dimensions are going to be 4-8" in Diameter x 14.5" High or Long.

does this one include the dedicated socket strip?

No. One could however store !/4" or 3/8" drive sockets on a strip in the roll.

does any one use this to store your standard issue craftsman wrench sets (metric and sae) can you keep them in order, separated, and do they stay in?

I have two of these tool rolls, however I do not use them specifically for combination wrench sets. It is my belief that they would work great for combination wrench sets.
