Cat's Cookbook: A Lift-the-flap Story (Tales From Acorn Wood, 5) : Donaldson, Julia, Scheffler, Axel: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Lovely book for the little ones - My 2 year old son absolutely loves this series of books! They are super high quality, amusing to read and have great illustrations that make bed time reading a joy for little ones. The story itself is quite basic, as you would expect, but there are lots of little details in the pictures that you can use to prolong the story by asking your kid questions (where is the frog? Etc). The 'lift the flap' element of the book is really well done too as the underside of the flap is also illustrated, which is a great touch. We have ended up collecting this entire series and have gotten a lot of use out of this book, would highly recommend. Review: Lovely story about sharing - Cats cookbook is an absolute delight! The rhymes are fun and flow beautifully, and the pop-up pages are full of colour and surprise. It’s a charming, funny story.. my child loved every page I am collecting the set for my babies ..

Great lift-the-flap book
Lovely lift-the-flap story. Kids enjoy finding the surprises and the book feels sturdy. Great for bedtime reading.

Another lovely simple story from the Tales of Acorn Wood series
My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed this book and all of the other books in the Tales of Acorn Wood series since she was about 8 months old. The illustrations are truly lovely and they have provided great opportunities for discussing friendship, woodland animals, and in this story, different colours (the books), food and sharing with friends. All of the series are great for animal recognition and I have loved seeing my daughter initially point to, and now name the different animals. The stories are on the simpler side (perhaps even a little boring for adults/older children) but I think this is where the books stand out for their specialism for babies and younger toddlers. Many story books are a bit more advanced for this age group and many books designed for this age group seem to be centred around non-fiction (in our experience), so we really have enjoyed collecting them all - I will always treasure them as the first stories and series my daughter has been interested in. As my daughter approaches two years old, I can see her interest in the series reducing somewhat. A slight shame about this book and the other books in the series is that some of the flaps are very small, and therefore fragile. My daughter has broken flaps in previous books in this series and I wonder if it’s a matter of time before she rips one of these - I’m thinking the particularly teeny and fiddly green book. The angles in particular of the book flaps seem to make them prone to damage, even with supervision. Given that they are a series for the youngest kiddos, you would think the creators would plan for some rip-proofing or at least rip-reduction in their designs; sadly not.

Great book series
This entire series is perfect for younger children. My little boy struggles with his speech so the fact that the stories are short, are about animals he loves and rhyming, are really gripping for him. Also, what child doesn’t love a lift the flap book!

Lovely books
Lovely addition! My little one who is 13 months loves these acorn woods storybooks and this one has also been an instead hit with hers and loves the flip flaps and pointing to the animal characters.

Anche questo libretto l’ho preso per un regalo di compleanno e ancora una volta è stato apprezzatissimo. Storie e disegni bellissimi, qualità del libro ottima. Una collana una garanzia.

The artwork is beautiful, as always. Unfortunately the storyline isn’t as great as the originals.
