When I first saw this book, it was in a store several years ago. Its title was so matter of fact, that I couldn't resist picking it up. Within six pages, I couldn't put it down. It is a book that I have read countless times since I bought it, glossing over the pages I now practically know by heart, just to keep the book's wisdom alive in my mind. Since then, I've bought the book for several people; because this book truly is a gift. In simple terms that anyone can understand and relate to, Mr. Cohen gives very blunt and sometimes startling advice on how to handle the ups and downs of life. He has the rare ability to word his sentences in such a way that you will never forget them. Reading this book will probably leave you nodding your head in agreement with what the author says, wondering why you didn't think of things in the same way yourself. I have read more than my fair share of books like this, and no book even comes close to it. The reason I consider it the best book for straightening out one's life is simple: IT WORKS. There are no fancy words or gimmicks here, just the outright truth about what we fail to see ourselves, and how shocking it is that we miss it. I could say more, but I really want you to read this book and find out for yourself. You'll thank me for it!

I appreciate the humor sprinkled throughout the book. The lessons are very helpful in teaching us how to build the life we really want.

Really like most of his books, this one was fairly easy to quickly read & pick quite a few nuggets to improve my life. Didn't make it a heavy huge to-do list - many items I've heard before - but this time the repetition helped to actually incorporate into my life.

I can not overstate the importance of this book in my life! I just stumbled upon it & bought it out of curiosity & I am so glad I did. It gave me one of the greatest gifts of my life. I have always struggled with the need to "fix" people & to try & make everyone happy, especially my Mother. Naturally, this has been an issue in our relationship. I always meant well, but as I read this book, I was given the "gift" of letting go of that. People are okay as they are & it is not even possible to "fix" someone else - what freedom that has given me!!! (My Mom feels it is a great gift for her too!) I have read basically that in a lot of wonderful books, but something about Alan Cohen's writing & delivery really resonated with me. There is much more to this book than this one message, so I would HIGHLY recommend it. It is a quick read as well!

One of the most concise as well as entertaining authors I've read--I have recommended this book to many people and gifted it to a few and will continue doing so! Just bought another copy for myself and am reading it for the fourth time (with much highlighting!) Read it quickly the first time, then re-read it at least one more time, stopping each time he zings you with a self-realization! This book should be digested for real help in gaining personal authenticity. Thank you Alan Cohen!

I purchased this book over eight years ago. I enjoyed it tremendously. Now, since I have my Kindle, I decided to purchase it and see if the magic was still there. This second reading was so enlightening that my joy and awareness of Source exploded within me. My view of my life has improved now with more ease and appreciation for being. Same book, but a totally different life experience after reading it again is magnificent. I am going to read it again shortly, and experience another advance enjoyable adventure.

excellent points, but kind of repetitive. I am rating it a 3 because it is actually a worthwhile read !!
