Yes. It's the initial bacteria die off that causes that. You should rinse the rock thoroughly in RODI water before adding to your tank to avoid this.

Supposed to be the rock. I had ordered it and ended up with 40 lbs of sand, told Amazon about it and they fixes the issue and sent me the rock
