What is best size for inshore trout, reds wade fishing?

The 2500 or the 3000 size is more than sufficient. You will need 150yds of 20lb braid. If you prefer to use 30lb braid get the 3000. When fishing inshore make sure your outfit is light and strong. You’ll be casting a lot and you will enjoy the light weight but every so often you will hook a 40+ inch fish. Then you’ll appreciate the Penn drag and a good 7’ graphite rod with a light tip and lots of backbone.

Recommend size for Large Mouth Bass ?

2000 is more than capable for large mouth, I use a 3000

Does anyone else have an issue with the battle 3 3000 reeling in reverse on hook sets. All 3 of mine do it occasionally?

The Penn Battle III has no anti-reverse over-ride switch. Good thing IMO. But I see how that could be a problem in the situation you describe.
