Does the model move or launch in any way?

Yes, once you build it there is a little hand crank that you rotate and you can make the wings move up and down. We purchased three different Leonardo models for our kids and they are their pride and joy.

What are the dimensions such as wing span and body length please?

Sorry can't answer the whole question it was a gift for some one - but went on line and found that the wing span is 24" hope this of some help

would it be ok if i coated it with polyurithane?

Accepted Answer

yes.. coating with polyurethane would be fine.. just take care not to "glue" the moving parts that create the flapping motion

Pathfinders Design and Technology designs and manufactures wooden science kits for educational and recreational use. We are located in Metchosin, just outside of Victoria, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Our chief educator, Derek Wulff, teaches classes in the Victoria area, and does guest spots for science fairs and workshops across Canada, most recently with the Nellie McClung Girl’s Jr High program Science fair in Edmonton. We spend time with kids in schools, making and using the kits to see how well they deliver curriculum for teachers, and to make sure they are engaging and appropriate for both fun play and educational aspects. So far so good!

We like to work with other local companies. Our manufacturer in Taiwan is a local family-run factory, and most of our stores are neighbourhood toy stores, supporting local and small business people (not actually short, but you know what we mean). We do sell to some larger companies, like Lee Valley tools, Hobby Lobby, Scholars Choice and Mastermind, but they have set standards for excellence so we are excited to work with them.
