What kind of metal are the crochet hooks made out of?

Personally i prefer aluminum hooks with a dense foam ergonomic handle. These hooks work more smoothly through the yarn with less drag, consequently less tiring. When crocheting with size 10, 20 or 30 crochet thread, steel hooks are the hook of choice.

Are the numbers etched or painted on the handles?

For those crochet hooks from 3.5mm to 10.0mm,on one side of the handle,the size is printed on it.On the other side of the handle,the size is etched on it. For those lace crochet hooks from 0.5mm to 2.75mm,the sizes are etched on the handles.
