Check the starter wire is not touching any part of the heater . If it is just move it away . I have used a piece of string to stop it touching and now works fine .

will this work with Butane?

Probably just need correct regulator for the gas bottle.

Our patio heater will not transfer from the pilot valve to the main valve.

Not sure what that means however if your meaning it won’t ignite I had to move the cable inside as it was shorting out. Once moved it ignited after a couple of minutes. The manufacturer provided a diagram and directions on how to make the fix.

Constantly turns off after 10/15 mins any comman faults

This issue is not related to the unit directly. During these colder times, the gas bottle is not producing the required gas at the rate that it should (gas is in a liquid form). This causes the bottle to freeze up and subsequently cut the flow of gas. Please see link below for a detailed explanation: https://www.elgas.com.au/blog/2084-can-and-does-propane-freeze-does-lpg-freeze We recommend a thermal cover for the gas bottle which we found resolved the issue. Alternatively, you can run the unit on a lower heat setting.
