With adjustable color temperature and light output, it's a very versatile, and stylish, light. I ordered a pair, and use them to illuminate a fly-tying desk. I've even used them to light some items on a copy stand that were destined for Craigslist and Ebay, and the daylight color temperature setting makes lighting a breeze. Because the light isn't hooded like an architect's syle lamp, there is some glare if the LEDs are slightly above your eye level, but that's easily adjusted. Overall, this is an excellent light.... beautiful and functional. Three thumbs up!

Overall this is the best LED desk lamp I've seen so far. I love the 4-step adjustable color temperature (from a very warm nightlight mode to a bright blue-white sunlight mode). Light output is also adjustable for each mode (note that the max light output is significantly lower under warmer temperatures). The lamp is light, stylish and energy efficient (15W max). The high CRI(90+) makes for a pleasant reading experience without the harshness that typically comes with other energy efficient lights. Unlike most fluorescent lights that requires a bit of warm up, the LEDs get to full brightness almost instantly. The USB charge port is a nice touch and I find myself using it all the time. However for a lamp at this price level I'd expect more light output. It doesn't feel brighter than my last lamp with a 14W fluorescent bulb. You'll have to keep the lamp rather close to the desk to be able to read well. The electronic switch on the lamp resets to off when power is lost, which means I can't hook it up to a wall switch - I'd like to see the lamp retain its on/off mode so it can be externally switched. One more complaint - the USB port only provides 700mA current. It really needs to be in the 1500+ range to be able to quick charge a power-hungry smartphone or tablet.

I recently bought a koncept z-bar led lamp, thinking it would be the ultimate lamp for late night studying. The z-bar is very sleek, stylish,and flexible, but comes with several caveats. 1) Mine came with a slightly crooked hinge, so I could never keep the lamp perfectly level over my workspace. 2) There was no definitive on/off switch, only brightness adjustments. 3)MOST IMPORTANTLY, I could not get used to the color temperature; it was too cool white and contrasts with the warm lighting in my room. The Diasonic, on the otherhand, is a much better lamp suited toward studying and reading. The features are plenty and PRACTICAL, I love using the bedtime mode for late night web browsing (you can look at the lamp with zero eye strain!!). The touch buttons are mostly responsive and the different brightness settings are great. I have not yet used the sleep mode since I keep this lamp at my desk, but I'm sure it'll come in handy if I ever need it.The only downsides that I can think of are that the light itself could be a bit longer, the gloss attracts dust and fingerprints, and the plastic doesn't feel as nice as the polished aluminum of the z-bar (albeit the diasonic is much lighter!!). Despite these negatives, I still give this lamp five stars. If are you in the market for a high quality desk lamp for any use, this is the one.

This lamp is a little pricey. But the quality and usefulness just blew me away. This is a fabulous lamp. Very easy to use ... it has four basic settings and at each one, you can increase or lower the intensity. I took a chance on it, and was extremely pleased. My wife liked it and I may have to buy a second one for her ... for a while, I thought she was going to just take this one and then I would have to buy one for myself. Sorry for being flip, but this is probably the best desk lamp I have ever had. I wonder if they make a floor model? [NOT made in China, by the way ... It would cost too much to have an electrician come in to wire a ceiling light, so it was just easier to buy another of these Softech LED desk lamps and put it on top of one of the bookcases. There already was a nearby wall outlet. The other lamp was for a Christmas gift. We move these lamps around the house all the time to try out new locations. I wish they would make a floor lamp model.]

My mom is pleasantly surprised as she can read for long periods of time without any eyestrain at all. She thought it was just because she was getting older but the types of light available with this product really do make such a big difference. Setup is a breeze, you unscrew the bottom and screw it back on with the platform in between and you're ready to go. It twists at the base and then you have the vertical adjustment at the top. Overall the product is very light but the base is stable. Really a very nice piece of technology, it was a bit pricey but it's one of those, you get what you pay for, cases. USB port works for charging iphone and the 1-hour feature is a nice touch. Highly recommended.

So...the light of the lamp is great. Love the settings. Love the look...white, sleek and doesn't take up much space. BUT....it has a mind of its own. Periodically, it will turn on by itself for no apparent reason (who knows how long it was on while we were on vacation) and the only way to turn it off is to unplug it! Very frustrating! So....I am purchasing another brand...not sure what I will do with my "ghost" lamp.
