Nevertheless, the quality of the silicone appears to be up to its price, but more importantly, the molding adds an additional safeguard preventing the latch from popping out, and opening the unit at depth. It is only splash-proof. You can buy the (even more) expensive latch-pouch, that one can secure at the base of the BCD shoulder strap (beneath the arm-pit, where the strap meets the base of the vest), or use the silicone pouch if you store it in your BCD pocket, where movement in there can inadvertently open the latch (through rubbing/friction/contact, and just plain Murphy's Law bad luck getting stuck-on-something it was not supposed to get stuck on when rubbing the BCD vest pocket against something somewhere) : The silicone pouch will secure the latch if you store it there. I myself use a spare/empty weight-belt pocket that I secure to the back of the tank strap itself, and put the transmitter in there. It frees-up the other BCD pockets, where the stuff you put in there is used more often that the last-resort transmitter. With the silicone pouch secured back there in that pocket, it won't move, and it will stay really forget-about-it-secured/protected, until needed. Maybe because of this, perhaps one should then not forget to put a "Check Transmitter Battery" on the annual equipment review check-list. I would not secure the silicone pouch on an exterior strap. Although the silicone is good quality, it is not nylon fiber strength. ### ⭐ Go with a pouch setup. *by S***R on Reviewed in the United States on 16 September 2020* Tore the second time I installed it onto the Nautilus Lifeline. Thought it was going to be good product due to the nice fit. But when I removed it, just to test how easy it would be if I needed to use the PLB, it tore near the latch opening during reinstall.
